Handy things to know (will try to avoid spoilers)
GENERAL:
>There are exactly 99 save slots, no more, no less. I found that I took all 99 slots exactly to 100% the game before moving on to New Game+, and ended up having to save over some of my savefiles during the second playthrough.

>Counterfeit Medal does not work past level 99, so use them early and often. They are useless for grinding levels 100-255. (I saved them for the final levels only to find out they don't work.)

>Another thing you should periodically do is go into IC/Specialty -> Replication -> sort "By Acquired" and Right-Trigger through each category. Anything you're running low on that can be replicated should be at or near the top of the list. This ensures you don't accidentally use all 20 of an important item. Restocking just about anything not sold at the item shop in "The Centropolis of Nede" or from a "Familiar" can be a pain.

>Once a song is "Composed", that's what makes it available in the Perform menu. (The Compose menu is a little confusing, but all it does is give you more song options under Perform.)

>You won't get a chance to go to the bonus dungeon "Maze of Tribulations" until after you've beaten the final boss of the game and seen the end credits. This will give you a starred save. Usually these are for loading New Game+, but in this game, you'll want to simply load the Starred Save and you'll be back at the moment before the final boss. A bunch of new things will be available in the world now, such as more battles at Fun City and the Maze of Tribulations (accessible through an old man at the back of the Fun City arena).

>Once you've beaten the true final boss, do the same thing again, reload the star save and EVEN MORE battles will be unlocked at the Fun City arena.

>You probably shouldn't start a New Game+ until doing both of the above first.

MAZE OF TRIBULATIONS:
>There is a certain point where you have to temporarily lower your party down to 2 characters. Changing your party configuration doesn't satisfy this requirement. You have to basically leave the dungeon, select a dialogue option, and go all the way back. I wasted time killing all the monsters on that floor with a party of two thinking it would unlock the puzzle door. Also, all the characters who stay behind will be loitering at the beginning of the dungeon and CAN BE PICKPOCKETED.

>Once you've beaten the boss on the final floor of the Maze of Tribulations (the boss is on a platform surrounded by red water (and you can fish there!)), the entire maze is cleared of all enemies, and happy music plays. This is kind of bad considering it seems to be the best place in the game to grind using the Super Specialty "Bodyguard". But fear not, exiting and re-entering the dungeon brings the enemies back.

>You can grind levels after clearing the Maze of Tribulations even more effectively using the song "The Devil's Aria" which the aforementioned boss gives you, but you have to actually get into the fights vs. using Bodyguard.

MAKING MONEY:
>The best money-making replicate-able item in the game is "Nectar of Ambrosia" (under "Food"), not "Forged Document".

>Sell a copy of each book you write using Publication to the Book Store as soon as possible to start making royalties. Once you've done that, you can then buy 20 of each of the books you just sold (if you want), plus you can collect royalties. Royalties get absurd once you've sold every book to the publisher, bringing in FOL by the millions. They make the income dividends from a full stack of "Stock Certificates"--while passive--look like chump change (a measly 20 FOL).

PICK-POCKETING:
>Make your way to Marze and Harley (to buy the Thief's Glove) before even messing around with Kurik, because you need to pick-pocket from everyone in that town ASAP. Kurik is full of missables, including a mega-important PA that could lock you out of the true endgame boss, a point-of-interest, and a one-of-a-kind item. A lot of people get much farther in the game before deciding to start over due to this.

>Pick-pocket to your heart's content. Steal x3 -> Relax Potion -> Steal x3 -> Relax Potion. Don't worry too much about characters hating you. Pick-pocketing, especially on your first playthrough, is too lucrative to ignore. There are many powerful items to make characters love you later, such as the novels you can write with each character, the Potion of Trust, and Aphrodisiac. However, there are some PAs that are dependent on having a high relationship, so you may want to repair relationships often (or pick them up on New Game+). If you have to grind up relationship beyond what the books can provide at the end of the game, you can kill the final boss and reload your star save over and over until you max out to 5 hearts.

>There is an item called "Pick Again", which lets you resteal every item in the game that has already been stolen. There is only one per playthrough and it cannot be replicated.

FISHING:
>Whenever you are about to fish, stand still and take note of which fish you still need to catch and which you need to get the highest weight on and then press R1 on your controller. A handy guide will be displayed on the right, and sometimes no bait really is the best option. What you want is "Easy Fishing" or "Average Fishing" to be displayed on what fish you're targeting (and "Difficult Fishing" on the fish you don't want). The value and size of the fish you use as bait doesn't matter. All that matters is that the fish you're going after is "Easy fishing" or not when picking the most effective bait. You can get many record-setting fish with no bait at all.

>There is also IC/Specialty -> Music -> Perform -> Faerie Dance. This song can help you catch more difficult fish more easily. The song only lasts long enough for about three casts, though, so it's kind of annoying, but it really can help out RNG if you're stuck at the same fishing hole for too long.

REMAKING WEAPONS AND ARMOR
>When Remaking and you're going after Rare Factors, what you want to do is eat a Plain Omelette first (higher chance of creating rare factors), then choose a Fighter Weapon, a Mage Weapon, an Armor, and Accessory (from a limited list in the IC Remake Factors Guide under "Guides" here on Steam). You need the "Masterwork" factor on each of these.

>I chose the following:
Fighter Weapon - Alpha Clip (because it starts with the letter "A" and is near the bottom of the remake list)
Mage Weapon - Sorcerer's Knuckles
Armor - Armor of the Arc
Accessory - tri-Emblum (I happened to already have a Masterwork one)

>In order to ensure an Alpha Clip has Masterwork, all I did was eat a Plain Omelette (this is only good for 2 remaking sessions and cannot be stacked by eating more than 1), save my game (Plain Omelette's effect is persistent when you leave the menu or even reload your save), go to IC/Specialty -> Remaking -> choose a stack of 10 Alpha Clips (these can be bought in Armlock or replicated) -> select 5 materials with a focus on boosting Special, including as many "Masterwork" items as you can (the 10% chance on each Masterwork item stacks) -> and then "Begin".

>It's important to do a STACK of items if possible (rather than just 1 at a time) to save you some time, sanity, and items.

>But if you already have a bunch of various factors on a given piece of equipment, they don't stack. Sometimes it's a good idea to sell off the factored items you don't care about and replicate the ones you do, to make as large a stack as possible (stack of 16 Sorcerer's Knuckles, all with the same factor (or no factor), for example, and four others with various factors you like.)

>Selecting 5 materials PER EQUIPMENT takes ages, but selecting 5 for an entire stack of equipment isn't too bad.

>If you don't have a masterwork weapon, armor, or accessory yet, you'll have to try and get the Special bar up to 100% and get Buff and Support as close to zero as possible and create, and keep your fingers crossed.

>For example, I can choose three Masterwork tri-Emblum+ for a 30% rare factor chance and pick various items I can replicate (always confirm the items you use can be replicated) to boost "Special".

>Once the batch is done, there is a very strong chance that at least one of the Alpha Clips will have "Masterwork". If not, reload your save and your Plain Omelette effect will still be active. With a stack of 10, this should only take 2 or 3 tries at most.

>As you build up Masterwork items, each additional one will be easier to make as you'll be able to prioritize the Special bar.

>Then you'll have something like:
Fighter Weapon - Alpha Clip (Masterwork)
Mage Weapon - Sorcerer's Knuckles (Masterwork)
Armor - Armor of the Arc (Masterwork)
Accessory - tri-Emblum (Masterwork)

>Taking the time to do the above first will GREATLY reduce the time it takes to do this second part, adding rare factors to your rare weapons, armor, and accessories.

>Now's the fun part. Select what you want for each weapon, armor, and Accessory that your characters are wearing.

Buff Factors: (2x Masterwork Alpha Clip + Masterwork tri-Emblum x3)
Support Factors: (2x Masterwork Armor of the Arc + Counterfeit Medal x3)
Special Factors for Weapon: (2x Masterwork Sorcerer's Knuckles + Shrimp x3)

>In many cases the items you are remaking at this point are probably rare and not replicatable, so choose wisely. But the above meant only reloading 3 or 4 times per piece of equipment to get the loadouts I wanted.

>For example, my Claude ended up looking something like this:
Weapon (1): MP Drain
Armor (4): Super Rally, CRT Super Boost, Back from the Brink, Emergency Measures
Accessories (2): Press the Advantage, Break Up

>To save you a headache, it's a good idea to replicate all the items you're going to be using to topload them in Recent. Unfortunately the Remaking menu is not sortable when you're selecting equipment, but you CAN go over to the recently obtained items when selecting Materials and find all the items you replicated sitting there, making selecting 5 materials much less painful that it would normally be.

S-Tier advices.

One question, about pickpocketing :
Can you get the 3 items from YouKnowWho ? I got the ring (of course) and since the other items "only" gave HP/MP boost i ignored them. Did i make a mistake ?
Seems impossible to successfully pickpocket all 3 so early if at all.

Are you referring to the ring that gives items as you walk? Trash item in the remake since you can get an equivalent skill early and you can farm literal millions of fol like 2 hours in. In addition, OP is actually mistaken as this item can be gotten elsewhere (I have two in NG) so it isn't limited to here in the remake, but OP is right you want to do this scene for the end game stuff.

I don't recall her or anyone having anything super good early game in the remake. Even the Goodie boxes can be mass crafted far more efficiently than bothering to steal them and then opened in bulk.

However, when you get to second continent the base in the north has some solid gear upgrades to steal and Bowman's wife at the counter has a +INT robe you can steal and replicate. Ernest has his battlesuits and the spaceship scene where you get forcibly warped back to it from your team has an NPC guard with a battle suit (save before this scene, his loot is random and may require reloading to get him to spawn with battle suit if unlucky).

No. The only way you can get more than one of that item once it is stolen from the female NPC you speak of is by using "Pick Again".

It sounds like there's another one of that item...somewhere.

When I spoke of stealing over and over again, I was referring to retrying after failed steal attempts.

Okay thanks.
Lots of small differences in the remake that ends up being bigger deals in the long run.
Nyet Diem Nov 18, 2023 @ 8:41pm
There are two accessories that give items as you walk: Sprite bracelet & Pixie bracelet . One is in Kurik, & I forgot where I picked up the other one. Pretty sure I pickpocketed it, but don't remember.

Otherwise, love the advice. I learned a few things from it, so thank you.

It's useful for getting your first counterfeit medal, allowing you to bypass the need to waste points on pickpocket for another character to unlock the otherwise useless IC that gets you the medals.

Get the first medal, replicate the hell out of it, and remove the bracelet.

Certainly!

There are actually THREE items that you can find which obtain items:
1. Sprite's Bracelet (off the woman in Kurik).
2. Pixie's Bracelet (I believe this is found in a mid-to-late-game dungeon).
3. Fortune's Bracelet (This is a reward for one of the optional end-game boss fights).

Someone earlier claimed to have gotten more than 1 Sprite's Bracelet in a single playthrough, but if that's true, I haven't found a second Sprite's Bracelet anywhere. As far as I can tell, the Sprite's Bracelet in Kurik is a one-of-a-kind item per playthrough (less Pick Again shenanigans), so what I originally said still stands.

Okay, so stealing from the girl in Kurik, it's worth it IMO to steal the Sprite's Bracelet and Magic Cross. You'll end up with about 5 or 6 magic crosses throughout the game, but it's not a replicatable item.

The Sprite's Bracelet isn't necessary per-se, since you can find the items it gives through other means, but if you're a gamer who likes to collect all the items, Sprite's Bracelet is definitely worth stealing while you have the chance.
