Claude leaves his transmitter behind, his father was expecting to teleport him back on the Calnus. Because of that, the Calnus sticks around, and gets shot by the Ten Wise Men's weapon later in the story. Claude also gets really jealous when Rena leaves to see a lifelong friend of hers. Funny that Rena gets blamed for choosing a lifelong friend over someone she just met, but Claude is "pure". Clearly, Claude is also confused, and I feel everyone is doing their best given the circumstances. Despite this, Rena still sticks with the party, whether Dias joins or not.
Also, Rena is arguably much more the MC than Claude. There's never gonna be a mod to remove her, cause it means removing a major chunk of the story, PA's and other important things. Claude might fit the paragon protagonist, but ultimately he's an outsider to the story, and his whole arc doesn't really matter beyond being the element that gets Rena to move.
you get all this from claudes story so i dont get everyone crapping on rena when shes constantly treated poorly for just trying to be helpful and nice on the journey
I was wondering when someone would bring this up cause it's the part of the story that's never sat right with me. Claude literally hasn't known Rena for more than a few weeks tops by the point of the story that Dias enters the picture so him acting like his lover just slapped him in the face is odd even if you look at it as him being insecure about his abilities.
Actually, all of the entries are about "dude from outer space that doesn't belong there ending up on planet stuck in the medieval and helping them solve their own problems of cosmic origin".
In SO1, Ronyx lands on Roak to help Ratyx, he's pretty clear about not belonging there tho. (Roddick I guess).
In SO2, Claude finds himself on expel through unintended means and helps solve Expel's problems.
In SO3, Fayt's escape pod lands on Vanguard 3, and he helps them solve their problems, though arguably, this one really makes Fayt the center of the story in the latter half. He is *not* a kenny however.
In SO4, a kenny sends edge to space and he crash lands on an underdevelopped planet. Again, story is not about about a Kenny.
in SO5, well, I only know enough to know that there is a kenny in the party, and that the story isn't about him.
In SO6, Ray gets attacked in space and has to crash on Laeticia's planet, though neither are Kenny. You do get a Kenny party member much, much later in the game. It's still much more Laeticia's story.
Like, the Kennies and their exploits are like.. Setting building ? They aren't even a main part of the setting, once you know Star Ocean 3's plot twist.
Claude is actually the most involved of the kennies ever, and he made the kenny name relevant in the eyes of people that experience Star Ocean. He's very relatable too, more so than Ronyx. Though generally, they are part of what ties all the Star Ocean together, the "Star Ocean" setting, but they never really define the individual stories.
Think about it, when do you see Claude tackling his own situation in SO2 ?
He's stranded on an alien planet, completely lost, and instead of wanting to find his way home, he happily hears the plight of Rena and the villager of Arlia (Rena's story), and when pressed to tackle his own side, he prefers abandoning his family and the crew of the calnus behind to follow Rena's story. Ronyx just gets wiped out of the sky by the Ten Wise Men unceremoniously, claude mourns for about 1 minute, and another minute in a PA, and that's it. The nedians speak plenty about bringing back Expel, but they never mention the Calnus afaik. Yeeeeess, am sure these stories are about the kennies. :D
No. You are obviously missing a lot of context.
Play Star Ocean: Till the end of Time, or at least, watch a detailed synopsis.
Never really a lot of space travel in these games either ? Little bit I guess. ;o
It's always centered around intergalactic threats threatening primitive society, and that society's struggles with them, people like Claude and Ray just happen to be there, and have knowledge of these things. ^^''
in that rune forest wih the children, she talks dias into working together, its claude who refuses and making rena angry.
like it was said, in the turnement she helped the little girl and that weapon smith to find someone wielding the weapon and the felt responsibel because the weapon was not there.
i can not see that as chosing dias over claude.
