top 5 as shown
Best CRPG by a landslide published in the last couple of years in BG3
Newest release of the best Neo-style of RPG's and also published by just about the authority of JRPG's in general
Best new Souls-like
Best Indie-styled RPG since Chronotrigger
Newest release by publisher NOT doing a fallout release for a change....
I might not agree with some of this list... but this list isn't made by gamers anyways; it's made by reviewers who can't read tutorial messages and can't jump over the first obstacle in their path.... so it kinda makes sense
But fine, as least it's getting the stats (metacritic scores and userbase) to back it up.
But Starfield?
And I cannot agree with Sea of Stars being the best indie-style RPG since Chrono Trigger, that's selling it a lot, considering freaking Fear & Hunger 2 got released this year.
Like I said before... WE don't make this list... idiots like those of former Kotaku do... you know; the guys who wouldn't know a decent game from their arse unless you pay them to rate it as if it were goldplated... that's how games like Starfield make it on that list.... ffs it's a small miracle MW3 isn't on it (yeah I know that's not a RPG; that's EXACTLY my point)
The ONLY title on that list I agree with is BG3... and for that matter; can you name a CRPG that was released this year that was better?
And why Fear and Hunger isn't on that list? Well we can't stir the pot with a game that was blacklisted in several countries now can we... can't have people starting to talk about how it's just a videogame and people should check their gunlaws before blaming games for making people violent because ohmygurd; think of the children
And we should continue to point it out.
MW3 got a freaking 4 by IGN, I really doubt they have enough guts to put it there.
1. Colony Ship - much more build, endings and role playing capability.
2. Rogue Trader - it's a freaking Warhammer 40K CRPG developed by Owlcat, with Fallout-like combat (smokes any kind of DnD combat).
Starfield making the list is funny tho, it's barely a game.
I'm calling ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on BG3, there's something to that game that makes it massively popular and it's not the quality.
I am sad that SO2R isn't on the list, but SO has always been a niche, under-appreciated franchise. I do think that this Remake is going to get us SO7, though, and maybe even more remakes. What if they remade Blue Sphere?! :O
i mean, best sim/strategy cities skylines 2? that has a 57% positive review, and yet its nominated for best sim/strategy? haha.
fact is, it was probably on that list before ever getting released, because thats how this crap works
You might have a point with high budget.
Then again, I have no idea why Sea of Stars is there.
Sorry SoSfans, but you are taking the spots of better JRPG. Hell, Octopath 2 got better reviews and sold more than it too.
it isn't just about budget, its about hype and anticipation. starfield was like the most hyped game in a long time. did it deliver? i dunno, from what i noticed most people were a bit disappointed because their expectations weren't in check because of all the marketing
but sea of stars got a ton of press, hype, anticipation. it has had it for awhile, then the demo came out and everyone jumped on the bandwagon.
personally i lost interest once the demo came out and stuff, just wasn't exactly what i was hoping it to be. had it on wishlist for a long time before that though.
