You can go ham with this game quite early in. The IC in this game is overwhelmingly more extensive than in Star Ocean Till the End of Time.
Tip: If you level up someone's writing stat to level 10 you can get free upgrades without wasting massive amounts of SP to a huge number of skills by writing books which work up to level 7 of 10 total levels saving you a lot of SP. You only have to buy the last 3 if you do this. Also learn Determination before you spend SP on anything else. Doesn't cost much to max but lowers the cost of everything else dramatically.
Oh! This is exciting to hear. Do you recruit new inventors as well? Thank you for the insight either way. Not to mention the extra tips. This will be extremely useful.
No inventors, all the crafting is done by your party members.
However, they do have super specialty IC tasks which require 2 or more characters from your party to have a minimum level in a given IC to perform it which can do more advanced IC stuff. It is an average it seems so the higher the more characters are in your group the better. Like cooking > Master Chef to create some really epic food items or Music > Orchestra for powerful varied effects, etc. You can also get special items to boost success rate in a IC, too.
