Save game is gone..

My save is suddenly gone... Anyone run into this?

I have tried to install the game in the steam deck and it doesn't detect the save either. I have tried to play in offline, remove the save of the demo and nothing...
Everything I've played has magically vanished.

Last time I alt+f4 to end the game. That might've ruined my last save or something... So maybe make sure you don't alt+f4 out of the game and just quit in game.

The game is so much fun i've had so many save file issues. It's really pissing me off because I was already 10 hours into the game

It randomly asked me if I wanted to transfer my demo save after already playing the game multiple times and I was spamming X (ps5 controller) to get past the title screen so I accidentally hit yes and now only my demo save remains and not my actual save file.

I think you are right as I have done this every single time and I have ran into zero save file problems and my gametime is over 7 hours now.

I didnt alt+f4 the game and still my save game was lost damn... 20 hrs of game time gone

Never mind, you are right I just launched my game twice and all my save games are gone, I had 4 save game spots, two for Rena and two for Claude.

I haven't had this problem, but maybe some weirdness with steam cloud saves?

If the demo popup came up, your save was probably already gone.
It should only ask that on first startup.

For the time being everyone that has this problem, open file explorer and go to your Documents folder and double click to open up My games and copy and paste onto an external drive the folder named STAR OCEAN THE SECOND STORY R. Every time you click exit game you will need to go back into the folder and copy paste it again since your save will be newer, this is the only 100% guaranteed sure fire manual way to work around this problem. as of right now.

I actually had this problem with the demo saves and I did find a solution which may or may not help the people in this thread, but I'll share what worked for me. So I'm using Windows 10, but this is probably the same for Windows 11.

Open Windows Security and go to Virus & threat protection. From there scroll down to Ransomware protection and click "Manage ransomware protection". If Controlled folder access is turned off, then this doesn't apply to you. If it's turned on, add the game's executable as an exception by clicking "Allow an app through Controlled folder access". After I did this, I was able to load my old saves again. Hopefully this helps someone out.
