How do you catch the big fish you see?

Whenever I try fishing, even with different bait fish, it always seems to spawn a new fish for me to catch.

There's a giant fish in the water, and I'd like to catch it. But I don't know how to get it to bite.

Hey there. ^^
For the biggest fish, you will have to go see an NPC called Phil who is at Harley's port, the latter will offer you an expert fishing rod if you have already caught 15 different fish.

Bigger fish want bigger bait. Check your bait settings and see which ones you have vs what fish want in the area you are fishing in.

He meant the Toukki fish, for that you need the upgraded rod.

Yeah, I finally got it. I had the rod, but I'd caught like 50 fish before the giant one finally decided to bite. It was frustrating as hell (though I did gold crown all the fish in that area). :p

Did you use medium size bait? I literally needed only 1 try with upgraded rod and medium size bait.

Yes. I think the RNG was just being a jackass. lol

They do need a way to pop open that fishing menu like when you run out of bait at any point. The one that shows what fish are in an area, and how likely they are to be caught by different bait.

If you press R1 while next to a fishing spot, it'll open that menu. At least if you don't have bait.

Awesome. I guess cause the party's always talking, or I'm fishing as soon as I get to a spot, it doesn't get the chance to pop up most of the time. Didn't think of just standing there for a minute.
