I just uninstalled and reinstalled in the same drive.....no luck.
Maybe because I'm on beta?
I just did the little boss battle in the cave again and resaved it and still didnt work... lol, Looks like im skipping most untill i reach the end cave
I can't try the full game yet (i wait it finish to download, adsl yay ! ...)
But i really think you have to had the BOTH on the SAME drive....or maybe it's the famous some games only in disk C main one ( i know by experience that sometime some games will crash on disk other that the one where Windows is, same is true for mods etc)
By ex Lara croft both games (Guardian of light aznd Temple os Osiris) some games are "known" for this behaviror
A message will appear for memory allocation b example
I wil see when the game will be here i have still the demo on the same drive.
A 3h save game. But it look after some comments that acheviements won't in retroactive mode (i mean if the game your progression it unlock the related acheviements to this point in the memory of the game).. But i think it's a case of JIT (on the moment the memory align).
So it's like i think maybe so...the game ONLY check where it is and not where you COULD have put your full game or vice versa.
Personally the both are on the other discs than the C. I have notice no crash at all (i know that some games sometimes it's rare but 100%à will crash IF they are in other location that the main Windows C drive.
I will told you (when game is download complete ).
(disabled cloud sync then) Got it to load after deleting
steam_autocloud.vdf
system_savedata.sav
then launching again. it was under c:\usernamehere\OneDrive\Documents\My Games\STAR OCEAN THE SECOND STORY R\Steam\numbers yada yada.
you can also just copy the demo .sav files here and delete demo from it and it will pick it up.
Don't forget to turn sync back on and choose the local copy save.
Although I didn't have the exact same issue (I played the demo on Steam Deck and installed the main game on Steam Deck) I did experience the problem of my demo saves not automatically triggering a prompt to continue when I fired up the game.
However, the method of copying the demo save files to the main game folder and RENAMING the save files (deleting the _demo suffix from each filename) has worked for me! Thanks for pointing out this step in the process @sean13128. It's resolved several hours of frustration. I was able to continue from my clear save and still received the pre-order bonuses!
I just started again and skipped everything untill the dungeon
And yes as i thought my save was recognize directly after opening the game after the question asking if we wanted to import the save of the demo , respond yes of course and after the title screen and load yes indeed my save was here !
And yes the two file : the demo AND the ful game was on the SAME drive not separate one each other.
So be careful for that ! Acheviements had unlocked it seems to. I mean no problem so far for
In all cases what an excelent remake ! I have much less of an hassle in combat for sure , i don't know if it's only for the Qol things but it's wel explained and enough fair. The stop action for select characters etc
I feel that everything in combat is much more consistent and even if hard sometime( when you go towards Kross castle and encounter by ex the knight on purple "normal" enemy
But the change for characters and other things are well done , in all cases i feel not as much stress than the original on ps1
And the fact that you can CHOOSE your encounters and decide if yes or not.
Have fun guys ! ^^
But i confirm that YES it work , IF you have demo game AND full game on SAME drive at least (i have had always steam cloud synch activated)
same.....no option to load at all
