One of the best Golden Era JRPGs, and the remake is done right.
got 24 games on my list of games to finish in 2024 . wish me luck lol.
Also worth pointing out there are quite a few other JRPGs that arguably outclass SO2 if you were to ask most random people like Chrono Trigger, Xenogears, etc. It IS a good game though worth recommending. Back when it released it was considered kind of mid-tier among many other excellent JRPGs, but by today's standards with the utter drought of good games, particularly JRPGs, its status has elevated. Plus, it is definitely one of the SO franchise's top entries along with 3.
What about SO3? C'mon... JK, I know it doesn't appeal to some.
yikes
please don't speak out of your butt, dear sir.
SO2 was very well received at its era.
I don't know what you are up to but xenogears and chrono trigger did not have the modern days aura they have nowadays, back in that time.
Back in that time we, as player from that era, would almost always be surprised and satisfied by the new jrpg releases, and we would not always speak about nostalgia and the old titles, it was the opposite, we were just excited about the new releases on the new and next hardware.
Anyway.
SO2 is a Tri-Ace gem, it packs some of the best ost, battle system, vilain and secrets dungeons, out of all the games coming from the " golden era "
It is a gem among the gems.
Funny speaking about so3, that game was released in a soft-locked version in japan, they had to release a new and patched version 6 month after.
SO2 is a really a one of a kind gem project, it outclass all the other entries in the series, and by a good margin.
Legit GOTY candidates or at least in the best RPG section.
