The workloads themselves already do run on Mac and Linux internally, but that is only part of the whole package and we would like these platforms to be more equal to Windows going forward. Just do not expect it all to happen instantly, it will take time.
Also we do not plan to port older tests to these platforms, so initially the pool of available tests will be limited. Only Steel Nomad and Steel Nomad Light has been confirmed at this time.
Future test availability on Mac or Linux depends on the technologies being used with each test - some things may only make sense on Windows, for example - but intention is to always have some tests that can be used to compare across platforms and to get the workloads as close to each other between DirectX, Vulkan and Metal as possible.
And just to be clear, Steel Nomad will work similar to Time Spy in that Steel Nomad and Steel Nomad light will be available in 3DMark Demo with just the default runs as the intention is that they will supersede Time Spy and Night Raid as the "primary" tests. Then anyone with any 3DMark Advanced Edition license (even just the oldest 3DM-ICF-) will have all custom options and Stress Test mode available for Steel Nomad and Steel Nomad Light.
