GPU monitoring not working
Hi,

My GPU (MSI-made GTX 560) temperature and clocks aren't being monitored. I can't see the graph even though the box is checked.

SysInfo also seems to be having trouble reading GPU vendor ID, memory size and some other stuff.

Two things might be related. GPUz and HWiNFO are able to read all these values.

It also seems to be that SysInfo ends up reading idle clocks, so the final report doesn't show max frequencies.

BTW, why does sysinfo have to run every time before a test is launched? You could just run it once when 3DMark starts, while exerting a light load that brings clocks up to full speed. Read those values...i don't see the reason for running a scan before each test, it's not like someone's going to change the CPU without turning the computer off :P

Cheers

It is run every time to ensure we know the exact system configuration for the run. Plenty that could be changed with software between two runs...

Oh yeah of course. Didn't think of that lol.

But yeah what about the GPU temp graph not displaying, and vendor ID?

I could show you a screen shot if you'd like...

We're aware of the issue and are working on it for the next update. Getting multi-GPU systems to work was a higher priority and this issue has developed only recently (current theory is that it is tied to some recent windows update changing something in the OS)

Oh. That's fine, then...just wanted to make sure you're aware.

GPUz and HWiNFO haven't had an issue though. I'm running Win 7 x64 btw.

Though isn't GPU info accessed through drivers?

We use CPU-Z library for hardware monitoring (not GPU-Z). Unsure yet as to the root cause but we're working on it.

Aha. that's surprising, because CPU-z doesn't monitor temps as such. I usually use HWiNFO when i want lots of data from different devices, before i discovered it i used GPUz and Real Temp.

Anyway, hope you manage to find a fix.

BTW, Does monitoring and steam running in the background affect the physics score by a measurable amount?

No. In our tests the effect is (on a reasonable midrange system) less than 1% which is well within margin of error.

Only case where you might want to specifically shut down everything possible and run stand-alone version is when you are aiming for super-overclocked world records. For normal benchmarking "how good is my system?"-style, the difference is insignifcant.

Ah no i'm not aiming for those lol.

But thanks for the replies! Good luck with that monitoring issue! :)
