You want, in the end of the day, for your experience to be smooth. Not just a high FPS counter.
@Toonen: I would not even use the free version. This is a synthetic benchmark. It does not reflect the performance of ANY game out there. Why? Because every engine is different. And it will produce a different result on different hardware.
The bottom line is: it's not enough to benchmark using a tool that will only show you FPS for a pre created scene in ONE engine.
This is an test application for hardware guys and hardware reviewers. They release every year an new version with new content. This is one of the best benchmarks ever created.
They bring every year an free version and an paid version. If you dont see the point in bying it, then use the free version, simple isnt it?
It isnt called benchmark for an reason!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benchmark_(computing)
Read the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ info store page before bying..
The first version was released in 1998, they are creating this software for many years now.
This is created by people. The developers need mouths to feed, if they create everything for free how can they earn money with it, sponsors? dont let me laugh.. Money doenst grow on tree's, respect that!
So go out and buy stuff just because someone made it and they have kids to feed? Even if it's crap? Even if they've been making it for years? Even if they are people? You make no sense. Buy stuff if it's GOOD, sure, but crap...no way.
And you telling me that i doenst make no sense? There is an free version to try before buying it, if they doenst understand what an benchmark is, that isnt really my problem but i have a problem with the unnecessary whining about, this is crap, this should be free and many more whining about people who doenst actually know what an benchmark is all about.
Sure, i respect everyone opninion, but i dont respect opninion from guys who doenst know what an benchmark really is.
And you telling me that i doenst make no sense?
He also doesnt say why this is crap or why this is an stupid deal? I call it unnecessary whining.......
Anyways - personally i use alternative and verified benchmark apps that validate the users scores by cetian methods - and or remove obvious BS ones without worry.
As for using it to test for overclocking - there is a tonne of tools for that, sad ppl don't educate themself but yeh lemmings and e peni types are a dime a dozen, see below for proof.
Sooo many bums complain about ♥♥♥♥, everywhere today... I buy cards just to bench / volt mod and same with mobos.
+1
We investigate and remove bogus scores from 3DMark Hall of Fame. Just report them through our support pages or send email to info [at] futuremark.com with link to the result in question on 3dmark.com and description why it is bogus (if it isn't blindingly obvious). Tho do note that if the result page already says that the score is not valid then it won't appear on the toplists and doesn't really qualify for removal. You can filter out invalid results in result search on 3DMark.com and they are not used as data on things like Futuremark Hardware Channel.
3DMark also includes built-in checks to eliminate some obvious ways to cheat with the scores but beyond that the only practical way is post-submit analysis online (we don't want to resort to heavy-handed anti-cheating methods like punkbuster just for the sake of benchmark scores...)
A fellow benchmarker who also has the ROG logo?! :D
Move out of America, and you might learn how to spell.
Jag är inte från USA
Io non sono da Stati Uniti d'America
Je ne suis pas des Etats-Unis
En ole kotoisin Yhdysvalloista.
This is a tool, if people want to use it they will. For me and probably a lot of people here it's pretty useless. For hardware testers and the like I should imagine it's very useful.
An entire thread of name calling is rather unnecessary.
IN THE END OF THE DAY
Kindly point out my mistakes, and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
But please do so with correct sentence structure.
