Not on a budget. Just taking opinions. What brands?

Here is the deal: The 8350 cannot take any higher frequentzie above 1800 or whatever; whatever the upper limit was, i figured out that these where the perfect fit for space and performance: http://www.crucial.com/store/partspecs.aspx?imodule=BLE8G3D1869DE1TX0
So what i am trying to say is that i got a pair of those, and that the best choice i landed on after research done over 3 weeks.
I play games harcore, and record/render videos on top of it all, so the extra performance compared to what i had clearly showed.

Says who? RAM support is determined by the board, not the IMC. My Sabertooth 990FX R2 & 8350 runs perfectly happy with my friends 2400Mhz RAM Kit, i know coz i borrowed 2 sticks while i was waiting for my RAM to arrive when i last upgraded.

In actual fact its worth mentioning that i couldn't get my 1066Mhz RAM to work with my 8350. It would just cause the RAM OK light to flash on the MB. Pressing the RAM OK button made the system boot in UEFI BIOS but as soon as i saved and quit with any configuration the system would refuse to boot again. Replacing it with Corsair Vengeance 1866Mhz fixed the issue (and FTR the 1066Mhz RAM is still in the I7 920 build to this day working perfectly happily)

OP the 8350 has no restrictions on RAM, buy the best you can afford.

1866 is native for the 8350, so that would be the minimum speed to buy IMO, if you can get faster ram. Do it! lol Ideally look for some that is higher speed, with low timings. That was if say it is 2400 at 10-11-11-31, it will be able to run at 1866 with even tighter timings. I run 1866mhz Patriot at 9-10-9-27@1.5 volts in my wife's 8320@4.7 It was a 2400mhz kit. I havent tried to run the timings any tighter.

I have Kingston HyperX 1600 MHz now, and it is great. If I was going to buy RAM I'd buy the faster stuff, since it is cheaper than the lower speed sticks due to supplu and demand, and I would just underclock it to 1866, it'd add life to the RAM and run great.

yea, you need too base ram off your Motherboard not your CPU.

However What i do know, AMD FX 990s work really well @ 2133hz.

Mushkind Redline 2133hz 4gb sticks (4x 4 = 16gb) worked well in both my old comp and new comp. Cas 9

Old comp
asus crosshair v formula
FX 8150 @ 4.4Ghz
ect ect.

New comp
Window 7-U-64bit
AMD FX-9590 W/ Corsair H105
GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD7
Mushkin DRR3 2133 4x4Gb
Asus DCU 780ti
Soundblaster Zx
2xMushkin Chronos 240 SSD (SF-2281)
WD 1TB VelociRaptor (10,000 RPM) for storage.
Evga 1300w PSU (gold)
CaseLabs Mercury S8

Only things I kept from old comp was windows and the ram.
