Full version shows the fps, number of frames rendered, and time that has lapsed in the benchmark. On the other hand the demo does not show any of these.
Demo version on Steam = 3DMark Basic Edition. Not all tests are available and custom options are not available.
Advanced Edition ("full version") that you can buy adds Fire Strike Ultra and Extreme test variants (and Ice Storm Extreme, but that isn't very useful for desktop PCs), and the API Overhead Feature Test and you can run tests with custom settings and loop tests.
i use 3DMark only to see what my new hardware/pc can handle.
