I updated the BIOS (0x12b patch) on the same day I got the CPU, so the new CPU has never run without the BIOS microcode patch. I'm still a bit paranoid about it though. Benchmarking
didn't give me any errors, and I ran Mortal Kombat 1 which has a shader pre-compilation step, and the game finished compiling the shaders with no errors. So I guess it's a fault of the game I was playing? (Spider-Man Remastered)
If you have always been on the new microcode to prevent degradation you should be fine though.
I was stressed at first, but that same week was when Intel started finally releasing their microcode patches. I haven't had any issues since I started keeping up with my BIOS updates. This latest one actually lowered my CPU temps a bit, yet also scores a hair higher across several benchmarks.
Just stay on top of these BIOS updates and I think you'll be fine.
