Basic edition has every test for free.

Advanced Edition can download Time Spy for free (in basic mode) - from UI click "upgrade" then "download" for the free version. Time Spy upgrade unlocks Stress Test and custom settings for Time Spy.

So let me get this straight. The retail price of 3DMark WITH the Time Spy upgrade is $24.99, currently on sale for $10. Prior to the release of Time Spy, 3DMark cost $24.99. Meaning Time Spy is now included with new purchases of 3DMark at no additional cost. During the Steam Summer Sale I purchased the bundle of 3DMark and PCMark. Now I'm rewarded for the decision to support Futuremark by having to pay another $5 ($10 retail) to "unlock" the full functionality of a program I already purchased. So the people that supported you before today have to pay *more* for the complete 3DMark. Classy.

The retail price for 3DMark with the Time Spy upgrade included is $29.99 - it will rise to that as soon as the current sale ends. You can see it already on our website once the website update is pushed live (working on it...)

Steam does not allow rising the price and then instantly discounting it, which is why we have to do it this way.

Lol, buying in a sale and talking about supporting.

What difference does that make? When one purchases a product, regardless of price, they expect it to be fully functional. When features are released mere weeks later, and further payment is solicited in order to unlock said features, why shouldn't I be annoyed?

Would you be happier if we had instead done like in the past and released a completely new DX12 3DMark separately, with separate basic and advanced editions. Like we did with 3DMark Vantage, 3DMark 11 etc before we decided to go with the "one product which keeps getting updates" model.

Had we done that, the new product would almost certainly launched at $25 price point.

We went with the DLC route for two reasons - to keep the new test as cheap as possible and to ensure that all work that goes the the framework around the tests would also benefit old tests.

3DMark Advanced purchasers have so far received, at no cost;

- Fire Strike Ultra
- Sky Diver
- API Overhead Test
- Stress Test

..and will receive a further API Overhead Test update soon with Vulkan support, and a new Sling Shot test (to update comparability with mobile versions).

Sorry for having to ask an optional small purchase for 18 months of development work spent on new DX12 engine for Time Spy.

I personally applaud you for doing it this way. And I purchased the the DLC to show my support.

What some people don't seem to get is that all of the functionality that was advertised and available at the time they purchased the program is still available. They got a fully functioning program.

The developer adds additional functionality and offers most of it for no additional cost, but does offer extended functionality as a modestly priced DLC. So, they got additional functionality they never expected for free but want everything for free. Developers need to have some method to financially support their development. It is not like 3DMark was just released yesterday and they had this functionality sitting and put it behind a DLC paywall.

Aezen, you might have just recently purchased it, but 3DMark has been out for quite a while. All the functions that were advertised at the time you bought it are still fully functional. Then you got the bonus ability to do a DX12 benchmark for no cost with the minor inconvenience of having to sit through a brief demo (which is pretty neat). They took nothing away from the product you bought.

FM_Jarnis, I also want to say that I love how the VRMark demo ties into the new Time Spy test environment. If when the full VRMark is released (as DLC or standalone) you will likely get a purchase from me. I just hope we can get a demo with some interactivity. :-)

I can already say that VRMark is going to be a separate product, mostly because VR is such a specialized subset of PC performance, but it will also have a free Basic Edition.

That is a pure garbage statement. “Advanced Edition can download Time Spy for free (in basic mode)”. Why they heck are you guys giving ADVANCED EDITION users a FREE BASIC version. Yeah that’s just garbage. Advacnecd Edition should get ADVANCED VERSIONS!

Isn't that EXACTLY what you are doing now? The only difference is that you are calling it “DLC” this time around. Consumers who purchased the “Advanced Edition” are getting shafted because you want them to spend even more money on a “separate” advanced version or they get stuck with the BASIC version. Yes I feel bad for people who recently paid for a product that they thought would have all of the features of “Advanced”, only to find out they need to spend MORE cash.

For anyone who mocks someone for buying something on sale, I could careless if they caught a deal during a sale. That's a company decision and the consumer should not be punished for cathing a deal. If you pay for something that's what you get.

Consumers who own the Advanced Edition has to pay more for the Time Spy “features”, otherwise we get stuck with a lame Basic version: Demo and a 1440p benchmark.

-Fire Strike Ultra was the EXACT same test at a higher resolution using the same DX11 API

-Sky Driver was for mobile, integrated graphics and low end hardware.

-API Overhead Test can’t even be used to compare different GPU manufactures hardware. It was basically your Mantle & DX12 Alpha\Beta Tester

-There are plenty of free CPU and GPU stress testers out there so pat yourself on the back for that one.

Yay more mobile benchmarks and pointless “API Overhead Test” that no one pays attention to now. At least Doom has us covered with Vulkan performance in an actual game now.

No need to apologize. We expect nothing less from companies and trust me, I believe people should be paid for their hard work. However, this isn’t the way to go about it. There is competition on the way and you guys have one of the most widely used synthetic benchmarks out there. I’m sure you guys would hate to see a better company rise with better offerings to consumers. Don't take us for granted. I’m sure you guys have some big sponsors as well so we know you aren’t desperate for cash.

Treat your customers right and don’t nickel and dime us. DX12 and Vulkan are new APIs so just release another product instead of making current purchasers feel as if we are going to get Advanced features, but instead we get “basic” features. That’s just a bad look and something I will never agree with.

I can respect that. Everyone is entitled to their opinions.

It's just weird seeing "Advanced Edition" on my screen and not getting "Advanced features". That's a fact not an opinion.

I never thought a European company would screw people so badly.

It is like you are from America! Land of the 'free' (*Additional fees may apply).

But Time Spy is also available for free. You do not have to buy it if you don't want to.

Just click "upgrade" then from the options shown, choose "download" and it should open the free DLC page where you can download the free version.

Sorry, but that isn't happening...
I will report back and eliminate the message if it goes right.
Ok?

Smh......it's still the BASIC version for people who have paid for the ADVACNED version or edition of your software, Maybe you aren't understanding what people are complaining about or just playing dumb at this point.
