It didn't used to be like this, I recently formatted my HDD, and when I reinstalled 3DMark, I also couldn't figure out why none of the benchmarks worked
I guess it's so people on tablets and low end laptops don't need to download Firestrike and that by default.
Sorry, no simpler way to do this, Steam limitations.
Does it not show the "GET" button for each test?
in this case "owning" the test is a Steam license term - you need to "buy" the existing (free) tests for the client to show them as owned and allow installations. Future Time Spy test will have two versions of the test DLC - one you can "buy" for free (Basic Edition) and one that will cost (Advanced Edition, adds a new key, unlocks all the features for that test)
Also as shown on my screenshot seeing "3DMark Advanced Edition" and "Not owned" is not informative as there could be at least some info "In case you are using Steam version..."
edit: solved somehow. Had to restart pc after installation of 3dmark (steam)
(if you buy 3DMark from Steam store right now, Time Spy paid version is included, but if you buy from some shady third party store, by default you should expect it to be not included)
