- Basic Edition - available to everyone for free (even the demo version). Can run the test, can get the score. Demo cannot be disabled.
- Advanced Edition - unlocking settings and stress test mode, can only be added to 3DMark Advanced Edition and will be a separate purchase.
We have not yet announced the release date of Time Spy (other than that it is coming soon) or the pricing.
Alright, so basic edition will have the same functionalities as the current 3D Mark demo? Like, limited to running a single Firestrike benchmark?
The only new thing is that if you have current 3DMark Advanced Edition that unlocks all the previous tests and their features, it won't automatically unlock everything for Time Spy unless you purchase the separate Time Spy Advanced Edition. Everything you have now keeps working as it always has and you can download a free version of Time Spy on top of that if you do not wish to purchase the Advanced Edition DLC for it.
We've added a lot of new features to 3DMark for free, but Time Spy is such a major project (whole new DX12 engine, tons of new art) that unfortunately we can't give it completely free - but a free Basic Edition with some reasonable limitations will exist.
Thank you for taking the time to respond. Indeed, I do not think it to be wholly unreasonable. I'd have liked a bit more features than the barebones demo for those who paid for 3D Mark on Steam, but I understand it's a big project for you guys that cost lots of time and money.
