3DMark

3D Mark TimeSpy occasionally fails on Graphics Test 2.
When running 3DMark TimeSpy, I occasionally get a "No result produced" error on Graphics Test 2. Any idea what caused this?

Most likely the GPU is not 100% stable. We've seen many cases of 6800/6900 series AMD cards randomly crashing at the heaviest parts of Time Spy, but if you slightly underclock them, they magically can pass it 100% of the time. This would mean the GPU is not stable at stock settings. Contact GPU vendor or AMD support if this is the case. Nothing wrong with 3DMark, it has been stability tested very extensively and assuming no background program is breaking exclusive full screen mode with overlay code, it can run on stable hardware easily in loop for 72h+ non-stop without crashes.

Is the benchmark harder to pass than the stability test? Because it got a 98.5 on Time Spy Extreme Stability Test?

What background programs would interfere with 3DMark?

Happens to me if I undervolt my 6800XT too much, say to 1050mv, even though other stress tests (FurMark, Radeon app's) pass perfectly but there's something in TimeSpy that is more sensitive so it fails after a few frames. Which is a good thing, a more real-world safety-check for OC.

So it seems like the problem was resizable BAR. Once I turned that off, I was able to run Time Spy on loop for half an hour without issue.

So something on BIOS/motherboard/GPU driver level is unstable with that feature. Or it adds extra stress to the GPU making it unstable with stock clocks. If minor underclock cures the crash with Resizable BAR on, that would suggest it is a stability issue.
