Low score with GTX1080ti + I7 7700K
Hello is this score (8209) normal for my rig? GTX1080ti + I7 7700K combo

https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/23403667?

I am especially woried about the low perofmrance of my CPU. With my previous rig the CPU, an i7-5820K, score was quite higher than this, see here:

https://www.3dmark.com/spy/2449086

How is it possible?

I add this stress test not passed???

https://www.3dmark.com/fsst/628369

What does this mean?

EDIT: Well now I passed it with 97.2%

The CPU score will be lower because while the clock speed on the 7700K is higher it only has 4 cores/ 8 threads. The 5820K has 6 core/12 threads. That said the CPU score does look a little lower than expected for a 7700K but not by much. Check your cpu temperature while running the test, it may be getting hot and throttling back slightly. The graphics score looks fine for a 1080.

The stress test montors 20 identical runs and compares the frame rates. if there is more than I think a 3% drop off it registers as a fail. If you're bordering on a pass/fail that also points towards something getting too hot and throtlling back. Given the results in the normal timespy run, probably the CPU.

Your physic score was a bit low, mine was clock 200Mhz higher which is only around 5% yet still get 16.8% more physic scores. Take into account 3% error margin that's still 8% more.

It could be the RAM you are running, it's only 2400Mhz. Usually people pair at least 3000Mhz/3200Mhz when running an unlocked i7.

The reason I suspected heat over ram speed is the drop off in performance in the stress test.

so what is a possible solution?
Spectral Nov 21, 2017 @ 11:04am
First thing I'd do is install something to monitor temperatures and clock speeds while the test is running to see what they get too.

I did it.... Well I7 7700K easily becomes damn hot! almost 100°!!!

IIRC it starts thermal throttling at 95C. That is running way too hot. What cooler do you have on it?

100C is way too high for the CPU. Poorly seated processor cooler?

I think your using a stock cooler or indeed a badly installed cooler, i recently took the coolermaster hyper 212 evo off the cpu a i7 6700k.
Cracked the cpu open with the available good set for doing that then replaced the crap TIM on the cpu with a very thin layer of liquid metal.
After that i tested the result instant incredible 30C+ lower temps.
Before this the cpu would not even clock at 4.5 Ghz at all after this is made it up to 4.6 Ghz.
So i bought a watercooling set the alphacool eisbaer 280 and bam the temps dropped even further. With this cooler and a good and thin layer of high grade thermal paste the cpu is ready for even higher clocks. You want to know the max temp before and after ... ofcourse :

CM hyper 212 EVO full load at 4.4 Ghz - 88 degrees celsius
Alphacool eisbaer 280 full load 4.6 Ghz - 53 degrees celsius

Idle temps are a bit lower than the room temp but they are not important, the above temps are with running prime95 for about an hour

I would guess heat also , running almost the same clock here with slower ram https://www.3dmark.com/spy/2992859

I can run at 4.8 ghz with that processor , stock cooler , stress test or bench mark the highest i see is 72c

which score do you achieve with that cpu? I barely reach 4000 points Now I solve overheating problemsby mounting a noctua cooler

yeah sometimes my card is stable and it just fails in the stressing part and if i try it again it passes. i dont know .. this program
