Time Spy - crash without any error after few second in cpu test
What's wrong? I've got i7 7700k. Temps are good, cpu is fully stable in any other stress tests (like intel burn test), but i can't past 3dmark.

Overclocked?

If so, first obvious question: does it also crash at stock clocks?

If it does not, your "stable in any other stress test" actually isn't. 3DMark CPU tests are pretty harsh and far more comprehensive in stressing the CPU than the Intel burn test.

Have actually 9900K octed to 5ghz and never crashed, always passing. So i think its something with cpu ( hopefully not ) OP but maybe try reinstall Systemscaninfo or Windows 10. Never met cpu time spy crashed etc. Weird. But if something with cpu then BSOD not just exit without warning. Weird...no idea. Or maybe try change voltages? But i never touch voltages manually so i cant recommend anything.

CPU test crashes are 99% of the time "stable overclock that actually isn't stable".

What kind of crash? Just stoping the run?

You ever fix this? Im currently crashing out of all the 3dmark tests with a 9900k stock clocks and get a 0 score on windows 10, no error or anything the workload just stops and then i get a result screen saying 0

Anything in windows event viewer?

Email result file to info@futuremark.com and I can take a look if there are any clues.

If you are consistently crashing in combined test, first question would be is PSU strong enough? The highest power consumption is during combined test due to load both on CPU and GPU.

What am I looking for in windows event viewer please? And I thought gpu aswell so I switched from my 1080ti to my 980ti and still have the same issue so possibly motherboard or cpu? Will try a different pci slot first.

Psu is 1000w 80+ gold so should be fine

Different pci slot didn’t help so not sure what’s happening there, could well be the cpu or psu or the motherboard itself. Windows event viewer is not the easiest to understand but what I saw was an application hang with the error ‘top level window idle’ or something similar does that mean anything to anyone

Note that this could in theory be PSU related. Do you have one cable from PSU to the GPU that splits at the end, or two separate cables? Some PSUs seem to cause issues if just one cable goes and splits to both connectors.

On Windows Event Viewer you would mostly be looking into application hangs/crashes - if they relate to NVIDIA driver DLLs, its almost certainly GPU-related (or related to the power supply to the GPU).

I believe it’s two separate cables, I’ll confirm when I get back from work.

There’s not much Nvidia related stuff in there the only crashes/hangs related to 3dmark are the top level window idle ones, which I don’t understand as I never tab out of the window and nothing is popping up that would pull me out

Well you could try killing any background programs that might in any way interfere that are not absolutely required to see if that solves it. 3DMark can indeed stop the test if it loses focus to something else.

I can also still take a look at the result file if you email one to me. Found in Documents/3DMark/. Email to info@futuremark.com

Psu to gpu cable is just one that splits, all the ones with this psu are like that so unless i use two slots on the psu thats all i have to work with.

I'll email the latest result now!
Legatus Feb 11, 2019 @ 8:59am
You need to use the 2 slots in the psu.

I'm having the exact same issue. When I did the combined Time Spy Extreme or the normal test it would crash after a few seconds in the CPU test portion. My GPU only uses one cable from the PSU.
I use i7-9700k and 2080 Ti, and my PSU is 750w platinum.
I didn't overclock.
