3DMark
Won't run fullscreen, only windowed, getting "Workload appears to be running in Windowed mode, this invalidates this result"
Hey there,

I just installed 3dMark and notice it runs in Windowed mode. Any idea how to fix this?

When I view it, it says "Workload appears to be running in Windowed mode, this invalidates this result"

I just want to run it fullscreen.

Running GTX 1080 Ryzen 1950x

Most likely a background program interfering. Close anything that draws overlays, popups or has anything to do with remote desktops or virtual machines. Also ensure Xbox Game Bar or its video capture is not messing anything up.

If you cannot find the culprit, email one failed run result file to info@futuremark.com and explain the issue, I'll try to figure it out from the data inside the result.file.

I'm having exactly the same issue after upgrading from an RTX 2070 to a 2080 Ti Xtreme - gutted that I cannot see the benchmark properly after spending £1,200 for my GPU :( It played full screen on my 2070 so why not on my 2080?
Any ideas?

If swapping GPUs, did you remember to do a Display Driver Uninstaller wipe and reinstall?

Beyond that, above instruction still stands. Email a result file from a failed run and I can take a look and try to guess what background program(s) might be messing stuff up.

Having same issue, no real background program open. Dont know why there is no easy solution to this?

Something on your system is preventing exclusive full screen mode. If you have tried to wipe & reinstall drivers and, please send a failed result from Documents/3DMark/ to ul.benchmarksupport@ul.com and I'll take a look.

Yes. Mention if you have already tried the simple stuff, ie. reinstall graphics drivers with DDU and ensured your display panel is not overclocked (ie 60hz panel tricked to run 75hz, which breaks 60hz mode)

I've got that message if NVIDIA Advanced Optimus enabled.

Same here, Windows10+RTX2070 or RTX3080 ... It always stops on workload, what's this ?

If GPU switches after clicking run but before the workload starts, it may break things. Force the GPU before starting the test.

As for the Win10+2070 or 3080, still most likely explanation is a background program stealing focus from 3DMark. Ensure you do not alt-tab after clicking Run and ensure no other program takes the focus via popup messages or something similar. Also ensure you are not running anything that captures whole desktop (most common case is TeamViewer or other remote desktop apps like that)

There's nothing like you explained to my desktop - I've turned off steam overlay, quitted all services, but still it hangs - unresponsive windows task manager - and can't start benchmark. Other benchmark like UNIGINE Superposition runs well. I dunno what's wrong with this ?

Does your system have more than one GPU? Currently there is a known issue with DLSS compatibility check that can hang if you have more than one NVIDIA GPU in the system.

You can try end tasking dxr_info.exe to see if that clears the hang and allows UI to open.
