3DMark

Do I need to buy the Time Spy upgrade in order to run the upcoming raytracing benchmark?
Checked few articles and they only said it is a update on late Sept and no more details.
So I'm looking for some official statement here.

Thanks!

We have not yet made a decision. However, it is highly likely that no matter what, there would be a free "basic edition" mode also for this test.

Also some of the press reporting is... less than accurate. New raytracing test will not come in September. We do not have a firm date yet.

If you buy the timespy upgrade through clicking on it in the 3dmark program, the price comes up $0.99. I just bought it. There was no indication of a sale.

When I try to upgrade in 3DMark, the program crashes with the "Windows cannot find null" error, this is not the exact text though, I'm using non-english Windows.

Here's another person having the same issue,
Google only brought up this one, rare case I guess?

Update:
Verify integrity and Time Spy reinstall didn't help.

If you buy a standalone key, you need to add it to Steam via 3dmark.com Settings page (must be logged into 3dmark.com using your steam sign-in).

Otherwise Steam version won't have the update.

Thanks for the info but maybe my last reply caused some misunderstanding...
My problem is that, as soon as I click the "BUY" button then 3DMark crashes.
Here's a short clip: https://streamable.com/f0vwj

I can buy the license elsewhere or at Steam flawlessly, just curious why is the button dead.

Looks like Steam is not properly registered - so when 3DMark tries to start your Steam client to open the store page for the upgrade, the OS does not have the type linked. Not sure how this can be fixed. Perhaps reinstall of Steam client might fix it?

Copy your key from the steam version. Uninstall it. Download 3dmark from the website. Install and use your steam key. Then buy upgrade.
