Steam or stand alone?

So before I buy the steam version or buy from 3DMark directly - does running 3d mark from steam impact my results? I'd expect a bit of an overhead because i've got steam running in the background, or maybe I'm over thinking things :)

No material difference. If you seeking to compete in overclocking and need every single point, you may want to run standalone version instead, but in normal benchmarking just to figure out what your system can do, the extra overhead of having Steam running in the background is fractions of 1%. Basically noise.

Also note that you can use either version with one purchase. Once you have started Steam version, you can go to Options and view your product keys. You can then install Standalone version (and both can be installed at the same time) and just put in same keys. Works just fine. So you can freely switch between the versions.

Login to your account in www.3dmark.com/login (using steam sign-in if you have steam version) and the link to download it is in Settings next to your key.

This is actually useful didn't even notice the download links LUL.
Tried downloading incorrect version from web I guess cuz won't accept registration key but direct download link does :)
