You paid for 3DMark and you got 3DMark. Time Spy Never came with 3D Mark, it was released nearly 4 years later.

I wanna know why it says Time Fpy upgrade is free if you bought it before July of last year when I bought it in Spring and it still shows it costs money.

Time Spy (basic edition) is free for everyone. Advanced settings are a paid DLC for those who bought before the price of 3DMark was increased (it was increased when Time Spy launched and was included in the main product)

So you got 3DMark at a lower price point, but it did not include Time Spy advanced.

why make people pay for time spy settings when that should be a basic requirement for a benchamark ... also i am assuming you make money from your other producs you could make time spy settings free for those who bought 3dmark before that date in 2016 as time spy has bad reviews because making it paid dlc was a bad move on your part

TIME SPY IS FREE, YOU ONLY NEED TO PAY FOR THE ADVANCED VERSION.

Stop thinking the world owes you free struff and pay for what you consume.

it should be free for the ability to use the settings if i payed for the 3dmark software

You paid for the ability to use those settings for all the tests that were available when 3DMark was released (and since then, got the same features for free for Sky Diver and API overhead test - completely on us. You're welcome!)

When Time Spy launched, the price of 3DMark was increased from 24.99 to 29.99 and Time Spy advanced features were added in.

If you bought 3DMark before this price rise, you do not automatically have those settings available for Time Spy - for that you need to purchase the upgrade DLC for it. Or you can decide you don't need it, and keep using what you purchased for 24.99 and for Time Spy, you can use the freely available version that just omits those settings.

then the DLC price should be $4.99 as to make sense of the price increase ... i will not pay 10$ for something that only adds 5$ to a product

Since older tests in 3DMark are becoming less relevant (Ice Storm and Cloud Gate are not very good for any modern system), we considered that without Time Spy, 3DMark should be now discounted to 19.99.

So you could say that 3DMark price was lowered from 24.99 to 19.99 and then Time Spy was added which is $10 so the price of the whole thing is now 29.99.

(The reason why it was done in one go is because Steam has limitations as to how often you can adjust prices)

It's also worth saying that if you have been using our benchmarks for a while then you'll know that we used to release a new version of 3DMark every couple of years with each major step in DirectX. Looking back over the last decade or so we've released:

  • 3DMark05, released 2004 for $19.99
  • 3DMark06, released 2006 for $19.99
  • 3DMark Vantage, released 2008 for $19.99
  • 3DMark 11, released 2010 for $19.99
  • 3DMark, released 2013 for $24.99

If we had continued with that approach, we would have released Time Spy in 2016 as a new standalone product, and it would have cost around $25.

Instead, when we designed the current version of 3DMark in 2013, we decided it would be better and fairer to add new tests and features to one version of 3DMark over time. Since then, we've added Fire Strike Ultra, Sky Diver, the API Overhead feature test, Stress Tests, and most recently, Time Spy.

We plan to add many more tests and features to 3DMark. Most will be free. Some will only be available in the Advanced Edition. And some, like the Time Spy upgrade, may cost a little extra for existing owners, but still much less than the cost of a new version.

no man you are just trying to justify 10$ for the ability to use settings in a benchmark ... now i would be OK with spending about 5$ because that would make the 25$ i spent on 3d mark then equal the 30$ it is today ..... i dont ever plan on spending more than 5$ for DLC of any game ( i will buy DLC when it is on sale for 5$ ) otherwise i will wait for you to lower the price and i think many others should do the same

If you don't want to add $10 for Timespy settings, dont buy it.
I don't understand why you are trying to criticize the price, you would pay if you needed it.

And no, 3DMark isn't a game, it's a software. There's some benchmark softwares, less complete, for more than $30

i would buy time spy if it was 5$ so it will be the same price as buying 3dmark new today as i bought 3d mark for 25$ i feel time spy should only be 5$ to make up the differance
