Do aliens just camp inside there ship?
Do the aliens ever actually come out of the ship? At most I think I’ve waiting like 5-6 turns outside of the ship for them to come out on my first several missions. But so far aside from maybe one guy who is close enough to the door to open it on earlier ships I don’t see them ever exiting the ship.

The aliens around the map spawn outside the ship so I don’t could them off course. The reason I ask is those androids are a pain to kill and on larger ships clearing them is a bit harder since I need to run into close quarters. I’ve tried waiting them out but they never seem to leave the inside. Most casualties I receive these days are during the storming of a ship. Clearing the ones outside the ship often goes without a hitch.

They do not. There are three types of alien settings IIRC.

1. Guard, soldier attempts to hold a position and only moves if enemies come close
2. Patrol, soldier moves towards an area and holds ground
3. Roamer, soldier moves towards an area which is likely to have an enemy

Do note that all aliens do (hidden) call for backup, which will attract nearby aliens. So the second you make a patrol soldier notice you, don't be surprised when all the roamers bum rush too.

I've had Sebillians charge out and fire at my breeching crew if they make a lot of noise or I do a quick peek inside, Ceasans run out and take potshots at my guys seemingly randomly, but I don't remember seeing Androns ever do anything like that. I think that may be due to their status as Guardians in the alien society (storywise), but who knows.

Besides the Alien Power Generators is there anything else in the alien ship that I need to be careful not to destroy? Because after 40+ sites it’s getting a bit old raiding the same UFO layouts over and over. And a lot of my injuries seem to come when trying to go deep inside the ship to finish off the last 1-2 crew.

Either they pop out and burst my guy in the face or their reaction fire blast my guy. In the last mission I had an alien use a grenade on me with my guys clustered in the middle area with the 3 doors.

So thinking of using some heavy fire power to take out that wall layer and then pick them off from the doorway.

Raveneye is correct. Some species, depending upon their racial AI (particularly sebillians) will emerge from their ships. However, there will almost always be guards left camping inside, again as a function of their AI.

If you don't like being forced through a set UFO layout to confront them, I suggest going to the Xenonauts forum. There are two mods available there, both from a dedicated modder named Kabill, that will allow you to 1) randomize the UFO interiors or 2) breach the enemy hulls with a special charge and enter at unexpected points of your choosing

To be honest the monetary rewards for UFO components are so low (I mean honestly, I'm not gonna miss 20K much when all the guns give atleast 60K) I just tend to fire all my rockets through the front door before going to mop up the nearly dead stragglers.

Or if you have some high reflex high TU characters, put carbines on them and do hit and run attacks on the aliens inside by shooting once and running back outside.
