That's fantastic news! Instabuy! I wonder if they're going to bother to develop their other game, whatever it was called, the one I didn't want to buy because I wanted Xeno 2 1,000 times more.

Just read this - greats news.

They did a really good job with the first one and are in that group of devs who give a crap about their game and players.

Outstanding! Super glad to hear that this great game will continue to evolve. Definitely on my "must buy" list when they release it to early access. Excellent news.

im going to buy it as soon as it gos EA :D
Same here, I'll support EA even in early alpha/beta stage.
I'm very curious how they are going to make 3d with this one, and what kind of engine is it going to be. Just please Goldhawk stay classic as much as possible and don't dumb down. ^^

Dumb it down and make it a third person shooter!! With COD multiplayer!!! yeah!!!

But in all seriousness, 3d will change things a lot from classic style mechanics.

I hope we can still have just as much soldiers per engagment as Xenonauts but I want to be able to pick abilities and perks as soldiers get experience as oppose to hem passively becoming better.

please no unity engine !!! stay on with the 2d sprites. everything else would be a great mistake. we already have enough 3d looking xcom style games !!!

I'm actually enthusiastic with 3d.

First of all, it lets you rotate the camera so you get around those annoying moments where you are trying to target a tile behind something, but the cursor keep jumping to that something instead -.-

Second of all, it lets them shift resources from spending X amount of money on Y graphics into spending X amount of money on Y multiplied by Z. I remember readig the dev notes from the first game, and the 2d engine takes ALOT more time and money to produce stuff in than if they had gone 3d. This means they have the ability to make more graphical assets for the same costs by "going to" 3d.

It also makes for better ability to gauge line of sight and trajectories.
