If early missions are balanced for a squad of 8, then landing with 16 troops would make the mission way too easy. If the missions were at least somewhat challenging with 16 soldiers, they would be very difficult with just 8.
Well, ended up being a bit disappointed and started a new game because I was loosing too much money and was mostly a test run.
Making 8 soldiers + 1 car same difficulty as 8 soldiers sounds like a bit impossible only for the joy of having a really replaceable soldier. Taking RP too serious for the game, but I do like to enjoy my games due my free time!
But using a car on my second base until I get better soldiers sounds good enough! :D
We used to use 3 to 1 as fair odds...obviously things are different in game. As I say...thanks.
And in the real military, when deploying by helicopter, you would have also seen a nice aerial overview of the area, and would certainly know in which direction a crashed UFO was :)
There's too much in the game that doesn't make sense from a militarily realistic point of view, of course. Not in the least the fact that 8 soldiers with small arms can take on an alien crew but the various national militaries cannot.
X:Division mod has that and is balanced for it.
Listen to Solver, without any mods to counteract the increased soldier count with a higher difficulty/enemies, Reinforcements will become very boring after 1 or 2 fights. I highly recommend not doing it, it doesn't hurt trying once for fun but it shouldn't be used for a full playthrough but it's your call.
Solver: noted. Will try and change my style in order to compensate for enemy action.
Tony, Fyren: also noted. Will consider your points if modding...
