Card Strategies for early ish game?

Im able to consistently get 4 upgrades for my deck each game now but im struggling getting more than that. Most of the cards i have give bonuses and stuff but im not clear on how its all calculated.

Is there somewhere with a little better descriptions of how/what kinds of cards/combos to use than the wiki?

Also, regarding gilded cards... if I have say Q with 4 gilds, do I still need to play that card? or do the upgrades get applied even if i dont play a run with the card?

Thanks... I always get confused about games with additive/multiplicative bonuses/modifiers. Any help would be appreciated.

focus on 2, WC and any other card that gives card progression(except 1 and 52, they are useless) or wheel multi. The bonus from gilds apply even if that card is not in your deck so if you have Q gilded 4 times, it will act as if you have drawn 4 Q's.

K is another good one because if you can get all 4 its a huge boost early game
