Game speed fix for nvidia cards - READ THIS IF YOU GET STUCK ON A BOSS
If you have an NVidia card and the game feels like it's harder than it's supposed to be, well, that's probably because it is. For some reason, the vsync in this game doesn't work properly on some cards and your framerate will go well above 60FPS, causing some enemies and bosses to move faster than they are supposed to. The biggest offender is the second boss in the game, which is literally impossible unless you fix it, because the boss moves faster but Adol moves at normal speed. So, here's what to do.

1. Open your Nvidia control panel
2. Drop down the 3D settings menus on the left side under "Select a task..."
3. Click "Manage 3D Settings
4. Click the "Program Settings" tab
5. Click Add
6. Select "Ys Chronicles+". It should be near the top of the list if you've played it recently. If not, use the Browse function to find it (it should be in your steamapps/common folder)
7. Under "Specify the settings for this program", scroll all the way down
8. Set Vertical Sync to on.

Hope this helps people.

EDIT: If you've tried this and it didn't solve the problem, try using a framerate limiter.

Strange. I have an nvidia card and havent had this problem myself. I did once play an earlier version of the game in a virtual machine and experienced this issue - it makes Nytilger brutal - but not with this version. Which cards do you know experiencet his issue? Mostly asking just so I know if there are any friends I should nudge towards this post! :)

I got this problem and I'm using quite an old card - a GTS 250. When I googled searched I noticed someone else having this issue as well, which is why I decided it would probably be a good idea to make a thread. I just assumed it's an nvidia thing because I've seen similar problems before in other games with the same solution

And here I was thinking that the game was just supposed to be this difficult. Thanks for the tip!

Unfortunately, this solution doesn't work for everybody. I've got an Alienware desktop with a GF560 Ti in it and forcing vsync does nothing at all as far as I can tell. The boss attacks at super speed, drives me into a corner and jack-hammers me to death (currently at level 8) . Once he has his head on my character, there's no breaking free.

I enjoy the game, but unless I can find some way to slow this guy down, I'm pretty much done.

Hmm, that's odd. Have you tried using a framerate limiter? It's a stupid solution but if you don't have any other way of fixing that might work. Here's a tutorial I found, see if this works: http://pcgamesbeat.blogspot.com/2012/09/how-to-cap-frame-rates-with-fps-limiter.html

The FPS limiter solved the problem. Thanks for the info and link.

Now I've got another problem: Is there any way to rebind the keys. I can't get "configure" to run when I start the game from the Steam Ys 1 game screen (nor will it run when I directly click the executable). All that happens is that an anime character (Feena, I think) appears for a split second on my desktop, then vanishes.

I've tried editing ysp_win.ini in the FARCOM/ys12c folder, but no go. I assume Steamcloud is resetting the defaults when I start the game.

Thanks for any help.
