Dark Fact boss movement bug (fix?)
So, after playing and rather enjoying some nostalgia from my TurboDuo days (playing some other Y's games) I found that the final boss battle was odd. and frustrating. Tried forever and finally just gave up because the movement to the right (just during this boss) was almost half the speed as it normally is and thought there was something rather wrong.

Probably almost a year later I decided to come back to the game and see if maybe there was an update... and nope, same issue - BUT there was finally some other folks who had the same issue: slowness while running in one of the directions (but only during this boss fight). The solution seems to point to the vsnyc and refresh rate (and maybe the screen resolution) in the games config. But unfortunately changing the settings in all sorts of combinations in the config for the game did nothing for me :(

Then I just tried one more thing as I noticed that the in game FPS still showed the refresh rate for my monitor even though the game should be using the setting from the config... right?

To fix the issue you need to make sure that your display settings in Windows is set to 60Hz (I have a 144Hz monitor - so this bug probably just affects those with high refresh-rate monitors). Once that's set I re-ran the config and set it back to something of the defaults. (I didn't try much anything else though - just left on the high settings and vsync enabled) and I think the refresh rate in the game was set to the default... and then launched the game.

Oh hey! I'm moving just fine now! and oh hey! there's noticebly less fireballs hitting me! Took about 3-4 tries and managed to beat the boss (which was a challenge. I think all the previous tries got me used to his pattern though - than and the advice from somebody else that mentioned trying to fight him pretending that he's chasing you... to a certain extent that actually worked! lol).

Anyways - not sure if it affects the second game but if I have wierd issues where things feel like they're going too fast or too slow i'll change my actual display settings (and not the game config)!

Wheu! :)

How much FPS do you have in the game?

Normally limited to 144 fps (max for my monitor), but It's limited to 60 FPS via the refresh rate in Windows for the last boss.

Thank you. This saved me after over an hour of frustration when I finally realized that something felt off about my movement.

I noticed almost instantly that something was off with my movement but thought it was supposed to be like that. Especially because people kept harping on about how he's faster than you and you have to predict his movement. After half an hour of strategizing and fruitless attempts, I thought to look into it some more. Immediately after locking my FPS to 60, it suddenly became feasible. Only a few attempts later I beat him. Thank you for your post!
