There is US and EU WW II planes but no Soviet planes except of I-16. Not fair at all. I can understand why there is no Su-30SM, MiG-29SMT, MiG-29K, e.t.c. in this game. But why there is no soviet WW II planes is beyound my understanding.
It is great news that ED gets one module out of Early Access list as that shows more about the dedication for the development of DCS World than anything else.
And great news for that super carrier briefing room. I do hope that we get a mission design room as well, that would be used in different forms then in the airbases for singleplayer and multiplayer, as well have a visually made roadbase tent for that as well.
A room where you can have you and your wingmen around the same table, have the same map visible and then all the intelligence reports about spotted troop movements and own troops positions. This so that players can then together make the flight plan, set the loadout, and finally select the JTAC on ground in the area that will set automatically all the laser codes for weapons to match it by the weapons crew, and same time players need to set their IFF codes (there is no secrets there how IFF system works, the model can be adapted to DCS own kind system like require a 6-8 digit code to be entered to the plane by players based to the time of day, area and classification. This manually because human errors needs to be able to happen, it can't be automatic that all are known to be friendly who are friendly. There needs to be the proper codes inputted and then as well told it to everyone else that what friendlies are using in the area for the flight) as well get all radio frequencies easily listed on the different units on the ground based their regiment, company, platoon etc. So easy tasking from players to manually transfer and add the codes, frequencies, coordinates etc to the data card to be easily loaded to plane, or get the kneeboard filled with those.
The most important thing is that every player is required to fill the flight plan to system before take-off. You are not allowed to take-off without proper flight plan (so one can't just zig zag around carrier and back as mission needs to have purpose if chosen like CAS or STRIKE) and you need to define your take-off, legs and proper landing time. And those are used automatically by the AWACS to ID the flights in the area when someone asks something, as if there is a plane that is not placed flight plan in the area at that time, it is a hostile and free to engage (again IFF and other requirements).
This means that we would finally get a proper roster on the virtual wall, missions listed there visually so everyone know what others are doing, and then what are available as AI can as well fill a basic flight plans for missions that players can choose to fly in dynamic campaign or the AI will fly them, or they don't just get executed as no free planes to do so.
In multiplayer it would be over to fly a blind missions or without any purpose or anyone knowing that what others do. Deviating from the flight plan means you are violating the rules and you can get penalties.
But that is super easy.... (you made a bad analogy, couldn't resist).
These WWII airplanes are not there, maybe due to a lack of suitable maps?
Unless they convert Caucasus to WWII, of course. But I understand this would be a complex task, due mostly to old tech used in that map.
