Bad reviews recently?
Anyone else notice a lot of bad (negative) reviews posted recently that are really poorly written and/or written by people that obviously didn't look into what DCS is before trying it? Six months ago when I decided to jump into DCS the reviews were mostly positive. I was just scrolling down the community page today and all I was finding were negative reviews that didn't make much sense. Just an unlucky spell or is someone paying for bad reviews these days?...

It is just how it is. Steam reviews are not super useful anyway.

Bad reviews can be mainly expected from casual players that are completely overwhelmed by the complexity of DCS.

Recent reviews are 84% positive, so I don't know why you think there is "a lot." And there are plenty of stupid positive reviews (my favorite being a one word review, "planes," from someone with 0.2 hours of playtime).

Who would pay for bad reviews?

there was a spike in people complaining about the price of DLC but that seems to have calmed down for now

Far too many will review it for the free base game with just 2 planes which are not so easy to fly and are not the most fastest to give any sense of errrr speed!
Then far too many choose a US Plane (which suck) and they never bother trying out the Flankers to discover the hidden gems within! No joking either. I often try these US things and the first impression is omg how crap they look by design in comparison. Then I see how they fly and they fly far too easy like an arcade that any kid can fly them! Then I look at the HUD and I just laugh at the shear complex crap it shows and no HUD Filter. Just a total abysmal excuse for an Aircraft knocked together. Although the F-16 does look the best of the breed, the F/A-18 makes me think of the kids with kid egos that fly them. They don't bother to learn the IFF Mode and often shoot me down as a Blue On Blue incident! This just never happens to Russians ;)

Don't worry. It is the Pareto principle 80/20 rule:

Haha yes, been there, the reasons people cite are at times are hilarious. Been a DCS user for nearly 6 yeras now I think and there have been so many issues, you could honestly get mad about... But those almost never end in the bad review section, instead it's "i am too dumb to understand X so clearly this game is bad!", "DLC cost too much!!11 clearly scam like blabla DLC game!!1" and the classic "it crashes on start up and shouldn't do that even when i am below sys specs" :steamfacepalm:
