DCS World Steam Edition

Why does it cost 60 dollars per good helicopter.
Look, Microsoft flight simulator is 60 bucks, I’ve got 20. I look at this free game, and it looks good. But what do I know, it costs 20-60$ per jet/helicopter. Alright.. the devs gotta make money but 60$?! Not trying to bait or start arguments but this is my honest feedback.

Buy on sale.

Download the Standalone version (not Steam) and get 50% off your first order. You can also trial most modules for 2 weeks.

because its worth every penny. nothing in MSFS can match the quality of anything in DCS. You are paying for the depth of the simulation in dcs and the ability to have thousands of hrs of playtime in one aircraft.

Alright thanks for the help. I wish this game had the ability to pick a first helicopter or jet. I guess I’ll save up 60 dollars for the ah64 Apache cuz it’s the real thing I wanna fly and not the base jets.

I recommend looking into the mod for the Blackhawk. I'm not a fan of mods but it can at least get you started

Okay

If you bypass steam and go buy directly from their website, you also get 2 week free trials on most modules.

Not sure if they have 50% for the first module buy anymore, might have to check again.

If you buy directly from the website, you can't use on Steam though. no difference really.

So short of funds and want to see what helicopters are like?
Download via the website and use the free 2 week trials. No harm done.

And they generally have specials all the time on the webstore. Actually. the sale is on now, but may finish any moment.

Do you have a joystick? not necessarily needed but do you also have a dedicated throttle and rudder pedals as they are massively helpful

Wait until the next sale, the prices drop dramatically then. If your desperate for something different than the 2 included planes, look at mod aicraft A4, Gripen, Balackhawk, or buy one of the cheaper non full fidelity models like the F-15C, Mig 29 or Su-27

It's best to buy FC3 and not the aircraft individually.

Seconding this. Don't bother with the individuals, buy the whole shebang.

Are those helicopters as realistic as in DCS:World? I mean the flight dynamics model and systems model. Not the 3D and texutres.
