So is the Eurofighter Stupid? Where does it fit? Normandy & The Channel. No problem to expand onto The Channel - THE MACH LOOP then.
You state that the Mach Loop map is like the Nevada map. Then you state that the Nevada map is stupid and no one uses it. So...you admit the Mach Loop map is a stupid idea and no one would use it.
Good thread.
It would never make it into Game ever...
Why would the HARRIER? Then to even think of adding the EUROFIGHTER?
Hell...you'd think we don;t need Maps. We can just train on the same popular 2 Maps always.

Perhaps they agreed to build it because they had a contract for building out the A-10C for military training, and the Nevada map was part of that contract?
Perhaps people want maps built around recent conflicts. Not a map in Central Wales that hasn't seen direct conflict since the age of flight began.
In case you're not aware, there are other maps in the works. Syrian map should be out soon (you know, a location with recent conflicts), and the Falklands map is coming as well (you know, a map of a recent conflict). The Marianas is coming at some point, too (the 3 most popular modules are all carrier-based planes), and it has a USAF base and the potential for a carrier showdown with Chinese/Russian vs NATO assets.
There is one critical difference. The Nevada map covers the area where Red Flag is held and as such, it may be a training map but it is a particularly extensive one that has plenty of room for everything from just basic flight to actual "training" scenarios where you can set up the proper bombing ranges and such. Doing simulated combat in a flight simulator isn't exactly my personal cup of tea but it is a pretty logical map considering the training value of the red flag campaigns and the like.
The Mach loop is a different situation. It may be a popular spot for military aircraft enthusiasts and photographers but at the end of the day, it is just a place where pilots train in low level flight. It is cool for that specific thing but it doesn't really offer any versatility or potential for weapons training/usage. It isn't really a place where any live-fire training is done unlike Nevada.
Another thing you have brought up is what maps are being run on servers and what ones are not. That doesn't really matter. In the same way that DCS is not predominately multiplayer, the maps are not either. You will find that many buy maps that are not popular online because they use them for their own single player or even co-op misisons on private servers. Just because you don't see them on the public server rotation does not mean that they are not useful or desirable to players.
Getting back to the Mach Loop. Again. I understand that it is a popular spot and there are a lot of aviation enthusiasts who have a soft spot for it but I am not sure it will really have much of a function in DCS. It might be fun to fly around in but I could see how Eagle Dynamics and various third parties might worry that it wouldn't really generate a lot of buzz when compared to more versatile maps like The Persian Gulf, Syria, or the like.
