Yeah I guess it wouldn't be a hit because you can't dogfight in it the same way as in other fighters. Funnily enough, when the Six was put up against F-4B's it was more successful in close combat. Bad forward visibility may have been a slight inconvenience, but the raw performance... Oh man!
People would also complain about its usability in PvP (Cold War scenarios), while all it takes is AWACS / GCI (the datalink isn't mandatory) and tanker to get very opportune position: After takeoff, hit the tanker, climb to 45k ft and (utilizing full tank of fuel and superior supersonic flight characteristics) fly until you get close to your enemies. Then do fast diving attack on one of them, using IRST and RDR SLVD to get a good lock. If patient enough, one could manage to circle in enemy's back for perfect pursuit shot. Then just land, rinse and repeat. Takes time and discipline, but that's the way I like it.
But yeah it's highly unlikely we'll get the Six or the Deuce any time soon, as they are very specialized aircraft, and the marketing potential is therefore not all that high.
This is one of the reasons I am glad that ED doesn't make all its decisions based on popular public servers and PvP. That scene tends to get quite a bit of tunnel vision and doesn't think about anything outside of itself.
