Joystick mounting solutions?
After a long wait the vkb extensions have come back in stock and i bought one. My only issue is how am i going to mount this since it isn't long enought to be mounted to the floor, but too big obviously for a desk. I have looked at fox mounts, monstertek mounts, and the virpil ones, however they all seem way too expensive.

I am handy as i am currently an apprentice in a piano rebuilding shop and am pretty decent with welding. I am in the process of coming up with my own design in CAD, however i would like to see some other people's to potentially as i find in my experience experience is by far the best teacher.

It would be nice to here what works and more importantly what doesn't

have a search through these forums as a chap made his own which look like the standard mounts you see offered and although he was selling them for a high price, they were substantially cheaper than the major providers.

I have seen links to online stores that sell the majority of the mount parts ( I cant find link at the moment) which I think are used in custom shelving solutions.

Anyone with a bit of handyman ability (not me) should be able to knock something up with them.

If you find a way to do it cheap, Im sure we will *all* buy a set off you :)

I am more looking for design options as i am most likely going to get some sheet metal and weld it into shape, however while in parts the cost will probably be around 30 bucks it will be a considerable amount of time, and would like to avoid redoing this several times which could end up costing more

I had the same problem and decided to build my own mount. It might look "improved" but its almost indestructible. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1283279421
30 € for two of them for throttle and stick.

depends on where you want to install..
use industry aluminum strut frame as base.
CNC or manual cut a plate
very cheap and easy to design. they are literally everywhere. i wonder why so less dcs simmer use it.
installation and adjustment like playing lego. only needs a hex wrench, no extra tool/welding needed

example:
https://ibb.co/Svy0tfp

this one screwed a toggle latch clamp on back rail so it can attach on table edge.

or make a ground T base, or a desk/box thing, or a metal chair, or a coffee table, from 3D printer to ENTIRE FACTORY BUILDING seriously..
up to you. There's almost no limitations.

thanks this is exactly what i was looking for. Looks so much easier than welding together some mild steel square tubing and more ajustable

These are great for any desk chair with decent arm rests. Using them with my X52 HOTAS and been very happy. Not sure how they would do with a heavy Virpil HOTAS.

Good luck!

not sure if that would work...due to my joystick being a fullsized stick., but thanks for the link and that looks fantastic for a smaller stick

You're welcome. They can adjust, but if you have a full length stick then arm rests on a desk chair might get in the way first.

Virpils are really nice but look like they require an entire desk setup. Something I couldn't personally do.

I had a Playseat Flightseat and the thing was extremely uncomfortable as a chair but had great placement. When someone linked me the double pole arm mounts it really gave me the best of both worlds, comfort and great placement.

Link us what you end up going with please! Thanks!

I did end up building my a setup using random parts i had in the garage after parting out the metal components and deciding to buy a fox mount due to the ajustability so i can take my setup else where. anyway my temporary rig

I use strong picture hanging tape and my T.16000 won't budge anywhere.
