Differences Between Black Shark 1 & 2?
I just watched some YouTube video footage from Black Shark 1 & 2. Graphically, they looked pretty much identical. What are the differences please?

Black Shark 1 was a stand-alone title written before DCS World. Black Shark 2 brings the Ka50 to DCS World as a module, so it benefits from all the other improvments including being able to Multiplayer with all the other modules. In terms of features, here's a list:

Improvements over the original "DCS: Black Shark" include:
- Updated Mission Editor with many new features
- New air, land, and sea AI units at incredible levels of detail
- Improved AI for a smarter, more realistic behavior
- Expanded map area to the east to include Tbilisi and location of the 2008 Georgian War
- Dynamic weather with variable weather fronts, winds, and precipitation
- Improved graphics effects like HDR
- Improved low level terrain graphics like grass, bushes, tree shadows and high resolution - textures provide a better sense of speed when hugging the Earth
- New campaign based on a follow-on to the 2008 Georgian War
- Network compatibility with "DCS: A-10C Warthog"
- Dynamic shadows in cockpit
- Improved 3D model of Ka-50 cockpit
- Fast mission generator to easily and quickly generate missions
- Takeoff and landings from pitching and rolling ships according to wind speed and direction
- Radio messages from all other friendly flights helps makes the battlefield come to life
- Improved FARP textures

So basically you are charging $40 for a glorified update.

Not even that, a mod.

Not at all, all the things listed above I have seen in mods of other games. More missions, units, radio and editor in arma 3.

Texturesl, HDR, and grass in skyrim. All mods, all free.

The big thing was this:

'Black Shark 2 brings the Ka50 to DCS World as a module'

This allows the 'base game' to be expanded upon with more aircraft/vehicles, allowing you fly the Shark 2 in that expanding world. That was a pretty big change, in that a helo you bought a few years ago continues to get a better mission editor, graphics engine, other opponents added (in MP and SP) over time (for free).

It's not a mod level change really.

Further off-topic but here goes..

Bethesda EULA specifically prohibits charging money for mods. Hence people couldn't legally charge from the if they wanted to.
Reasoning was something along the lines of "avoid distributing Bethesda assets and game files as mods". All mods are determined to require one or more of Bethesda assets (game engine for example) and are more or less property of Bethesda due to that.

So it's not quite as rosy as you make it seem. Granted, some modders are nuts though..

I noticed you focused on just graphical resources while there's large part of coding related improvements which you can't make effectively without access to source code and outside the possibilities of most modders.

Unlike games these kinds of things are not scripted, especially flight model related improvements: with ED AFM level you can't achieve those things with scripting and that does take extensive development and testing also. Many games take a shortcuts here and can't be considered simulations in the same sense.

I think that's enough about this now.

FSX was a mod on FS2004. You heard it here first! :D

Also, as Kazereal notes, there was a considerable amount of work involved in making the Ka-50 codebase capable of operating as a part of the DCS World framework.

But nevermind. On my list of mods I'll add Quake 2 being a mod of Quake 1. :)

(And before you challenge me on that one, think HARD. Like admiral ackbar said: it is a trap! :D )

I 'somehow' have a recurring monthly charge to my account of $70.08 to Steam Games. I don't know what game developer is responsible for this...... But, I can assure whomever they are, that there will be a Stop Payment put on it and any reviews for them will be like Mud.
I refuse to pay 39 or 49 dollars for a game then pay developers every month for anything!!
I Don't Know Who This Is YET..... Hope it isn't DCS.
