DCS World Steam Edition

DCS World Steam Edition

64-bit support in Steam? And can I use my BlackShark 2 upgrade code off DCS site?
I read somewhere that since Steam is location under "program files(x86)" and not "program files" on Windows 7 64-bit edition that this game will be limited to just 32 bit capabilities and not able to utilize as much RAM. Is this true? Wouldn't it be better to get DCS World and all the modules off the Digital Combat Simulator site so they install into the "program files" folder and not the "program files(x86)" folder?

Also, I own Blackshark 1 on here and I bought the upgrade to Blackshark 2 on the Digital Combat Simulator site. Will I be able to use that Black Shark 2 upgrade for my Blackshark one purchase on Steam? You guys at DCS really made a mess of this because Steam never offered BlackShark 2 until now and I'm not repurchasing another copy of it. I already paid for Blackshark one AND the upgrade off the DCS site. Now I'm not able to play Blackshark 2 because the serial code I got for the upgrade won't allow me to play Blackshark 2 under the new 1.25 verstion of DCS world.

Steam launches the 64-bit process, and the program files is really just by convention - it's up to each individual exe/lib to mark itself in terms of memory addressable space. DCS World on Steam is 64-bit aware.

The Blackshark 1 to 2 upgrade is not activatable in Steam, and rather than continue that discussion here, there's an ongoing thread here:

Why doesn't DCS have a BlackShark 1 module to download anymore? I own a key for it that I got before Blackshark 2 ever came out and I own a copy of Blackshark 1 on Steam. I also own a key for the Blackshark 2 upgrade that I purchased on the DCS website. How in the hell am I supposed to upgrade Blackshark 1 when I can't even find a copy of it on the DCS website to download anymore?

> I own a copy of Blackshark 1 on Steam

Black Shark 1 was pre-DCS World and not a module but a stand-alone title. Black Shark 1 should still be in your Steam library. It's called 'DCS: Black Shark' and to check I just installed it from Steam. The upgrade (upgrade key, non Steam) from 1 to 2 will look for an installed copy.

The upgrade I got off the DCS website said it needed a copy of DCS World 1.25 to install to. It wouldn't allow me to install over my steam folder to DCS Blackshark. It wanted to install to the "Program files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World" folder. Not the "Program files(x86)\Steam\Steamapps\DCS Black Shark" folder. You can check my game list and see I own DCS Black Shark on Steam. I also own A-10C on Steam as well. I also have a key for BlackShark I purchased off the www.LockOn.co.uk website and I own a key for the Blackshark 2 upgrade on the DCS website. I also own a key for Combat Arms on the DCS website. I'm just trying to get all the modules to work under one system now and I'd prefer it be Steam. So from what I've read I can use my A-10c on Steam (obviously since I purchased it on Steam), I can also use the key I paid for from the DCS site for Combined Arms on Steam. But I can't use my Blackshark 2 upgrade key from the DCS website to upgrade my copy of DCS Blackshark to Blackshark 2. So I'm SOL for getting Blackshark 2 on Steam unless I buy the full copy of it. But I've already paid for a full copy of it by paying for Blackshark 1 (before Blackshark 2 was ever out) and paying for the upgrade off DCS. But of course I can't use my upgrade key to upgrade my Steam copy of DCS Blackshark. What a headache!

Black Shark 2 upgrade is for technical reasons unfortunately not transferrable to Steam. To use this, you should use DCS World from www.digitalcombatsimulator.com.

Your A-10C key from Steam should register as the DLC, is this not the case? Combined arms can be imported into Steam through reigstering the key through Games > Activate a Product.

Why not offer a DLC to upgrader DCS Blackshark to DCS Blackshark 2 on steam for the same price as the upgrade on the DCS website? And those of us with a key from the DCS website can use that to own the DLC on Steam? Simple.

I'd like to have all my games organized under Steam if that's possible. I don't like having to have two copies of DCS world on my system and my A-10c on one version of DCS world and my Blackshark 2 on another version of it. For one, that defeats the purpose of DCS world does it not? It's supposed to allow you to change flying platforms all within the DCS World master application. But for me, a paying supporter of DCS and Steam I get screwed because I supported DCS BEFORE it ever released BlackShark 2 by paying for a full copy of BlackShark 1 on both Steam AND the www.lockon.co.uk website a long time ago. I should have never supported DCS when I did and waited. For one, I would have saved money and I wouldn't have to own two copies of DCS World on my system to be able to play the games I paid for already multiple times.

As mentioned, technical reasons. It would require additional functionality both in Steam and Starforce, and possibly a change in what data Steam is able to sniff from your operating system (not sure there).

Ok, provide me with a link to where I can download a copy of the DCS Black Shark game from the DCS website or from a torrent. I own a key for it there as well. So I should be able to install that and and use my Blackshark 1 key and then install the upgrade on top of that and use my upgrade key right? I just want to have one copy of DCS world with DCS Blackshark 2, DCS A-10c, and DCS Combined Arms, all on the same DCS world. I don't care if it's on Steam or not. I just don't want to have to have two copies of DCS world on my system with A-10c and Combined arms on one version of it and BlackShark 2 on another.

This is the module for DCS BlackShark 2. I don't own a key for the full copy of BlackShark 2. I own a key for the upgrade version. So don't I need a copy of Blackshark 1 first? Otherwise people would just buy the upgrade and not the full copy. I purchased a digital download copy of Blackshark 1 before it was ever on Steam and long before BlackShark 2 came out. I'd like a copy of the digital download of Blackshark 1? Where can I get that? Or are you saying my upgrade key will work for the full version of Blackshark 2?

I already have the upgrade downloaded. But I need a digital download copy of BlackShark 1 in order to upgrade it. And I own a key for a digital download copy of Blackshark 1.

Same site:

Downloads > Previous versions > DCS Black Shark English Download Version

http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/downloads/previous_versions/dcs_black_shark_english/?

Note: If you have a Steam-sold copy of BS1, simply install that one and run it once.

Thanks. Like I said I own BS1 on Steam and I have a key I paid for off the old www.LockOn.co.uk website.
