It's probably the best combat simulator available for public use though.
What kind of question is that?
Netcoding.
Lobby System.
Interest Level.
Modes.
I could go on for hours. If its like single player with more people it sucks.
There are several other programs that better fill the pure flight sim category. But for combat aircraft, there is no comparison. These are the most detailed combat aircraft ever created for the PC. If you're not a fan of the A-10 or Ka-50 then it probably doesn't look that interesting, and that's ok. But this is hands down the best combat study sim I have ever played. Hope you at least give it a proper look.
*The best air/ground(armored vehicles) combat simulator
For ground combat tactics as a soldier there is Arma2/Virtual Battlespace 2
And soon Arma3/Virtual Battlespace 3
You completely miss the point of the entire game. This is not HAWX or War Thunder, you do not buy a plane for $2.50 which comes with a minor tweak to colours and visual models, but otherwise handles like every other F-16/15/22 type plane in an arcade simulator.
Every single plane in DCS is a hugely detailed custom designed study of it's real life counterpart and is simulated down to the last switch. Learning to fly each of these aircraft is a significant time commitment and, as a serious simulation, is not aimed at the sort of person that would either a) decide "Today ahm gonna fly mah A-10 fuh teh lulz..." b) judge the worth of a simulator on whether the graphics look like Arma III....
Honestly, it doesn't sound like your sort of game ;-)
these are the games that took the crown of combat flight sims from Falcon 4.0.
considering that combat flight sims are almost dead these days (compared to, say, 10 years ago), the DCS series of sims are pretty much the only heavyweight flight sims around.
each DCS module is actually a full game. if you knew anything about sims you'd know that's the way it has always been. remember Jane's F-15? Jane's F/A-18? Jane's AH-64D Longbow? didn't think so.
So much to modern day flight sim potential. There is also a youtube video of Wags, producer of the simulation explaining what DCS World is in detail. Simply search for "What is DCS World" on Youtube. First hit is "DCS World - An Overview" from Matt Wagner explaining everything.
I'm going to piggyback this thread with my own questions. I'd never heard of the game until today and I love me some flight sims.
also: best dlc in your opinion please.
