DCS: Hawk DLC | Steam Store & Eagle Dynamics
Dear Sir / Madam,

According with my DCS World Steam Edition's DLC tab; since June, 16 of 2015, I am the owner of a license, regarding the Hawk T1/A dlc.

I still remember about buying this addon, installing it and using it on the simulator. Since then, I have been away for personal reasons, and most recently, because of Flight Simulator 2020.

I have the Just Flight's Hawk T1/A installed and I just love to do the "Mach Loop" with it. A little pricey but, totally worth it, because it is really good and one's can almost feel the inercia and the weight of the airplane; wath a treat, a superb model, on Flight Simulator 2020.

Well; today I installed the most recent version of DCS World Steam edition and all the addons I have bought, along the years. The Hawk addon is only 4 bytes(!) now. Unfortunately; I couldn't access it to fly, on the current version.
Very well, I uninstalled and reinstalled the "open beta" version; no success either.
Last option; I installed the "2.5.6" version. Again, without success.

It is time to ask what is going on; what is Eagle dynamics doing while selling games and addons, on the Steam platform, that simply stop working? More importantly; how does Steam permits this behavior, from a developer and publisher?

Once again; I want to remember that I have purchased a license of this DLC in 2015, almost ten years ago and now I can not use it. I sincerely fail to understand, the legality or the the lack of, in this modus operandi.

I hope to have this problem resolved on a timely manner, with all the professionalism and correction that Eagle Dynamics is well known to have. I already know that ED wants to funnel current and future customers to its own store, but Steam is the store I like and use since the Half-Life 2 game; so, I kindly wanted to ask for this to be resolved here, on this platform. If I can make a suggestion; maybe, also adding a Hawk's friendly version to the download tab too.

Waiting for a reply. Kind regards to all, especially to the Steam support team and Eagle dynamics.

There is actually a pretty straightforward answer to this one but you may not like it.

Many years back, the developers of the Hawk module (VEAO) stopped developing it, left DCS, and did not give Eagle Dynamics the necessary access to the code-base needed to maintain its functionality. This is not really something that anyone can realistically blame Eagle Dynamics for as it was VEAO's choice to leave things the way they did.

Your only option is to download a older version of DCS where the Hawk still worked. There really isn't much else anyone can do. VEAO jerked everyone around and this is the result.

As written above - 3rd party developer VEAO have never finished its only module, left the whole community and did not provide source code to Eagle Dynamic. Because of that the ED is not possible to keep the addon working in latest DCS versions. Also after that ED decided to update the contracts with 3rd party developers. Now they have to provide source code to ED.

Isn't there like a free mod of the Hawk that is more or less as good as the module.

Hawk is gone, deal with it.
I own a license too but actually I don't miss it.
There is a free T-45 mod for DCS Worls if you really miss the Hawk.

I don't think it has any weapon load out, it's *just* a trainer, but I could well be wrong.
