Absurd R27er radar tracking
I was under the impression that when guiding the fox 1 missile, radar focuses its energy into beam on single target. What repeatedly happens in bvr duel against AI (F16 with gucci missiles vs su27) is that when fired upon, AI does a little squat, farts out tiny glitter cloud and thats enough to completely fool r27er while i can still track the enemy just fine.
IS THE R27ER IN REAL LIFE SO ABSURDLY BAD???
i am there with jammers on, darkening the skies with clouds of chaff enough to cause next ice age cranking and banking to keep antenna dot in the hud corners for highest gimball angle, all of that to defend against the single crosseyed long range amraam shot and this f16 only needs to bump the stick and shred some tinfoil to make my whole bvr arsenal into radar guided suggestion.

If you have better unclassified data please PM me.
Thank you

During Ethiopian-Eritrea Conflict.
Both side equip with R-27 and R-73 and .. only one kill(by R-73) and one damaged(R-27 proximity-fuze).
Some records said there were total 24 of R-27s fired from both side. Some says it's about 10.
But either way, it's below 1/10.
Is E version any better. ehmm, idk.

I will try to check it out, maybe something from the Ukraine is also somewhere out here.

Does the F16 have jammers?
All Fox 1's are "bad" while the R27 is better than say most of the Sparrows, they still aren't good.

Nope, no jammers. 4x Amraam C and 2x aim9x, nothing else.

Not sure if it will be implemented in DCS but last year they were trialling jammers for the F-16, first in flight tests were this year I think. It's the AN/ALQ-257 Integrated Viper Electronic Warfare Suite produced by Northrop Grumman.

Sounds like a you problem.

It is impossible to say why that happens until we know more details.
Fitst of all lets see this set of videos about how radar works. Once you understand all the important physical properties of radar, we can start talking about whether the problem is with the aircraft or the pilot.

Or provide us track file or file from TacView to be able to analyse problem.

I'm not flying the Russian aircrafts very often.
But, yes the R27 R/ER are quite bad.
Like mose Fox 1 missiles. They are also very sensitive to ground cluster (if I remember well...). The missile has a hard time seeing through the returning radar waves from the ground.
Meaning, if the ennemi is diving faster than you, your missile has a higher chance to miss his target.
I think the AI will dive to the ground ASAP, most of the time, to avoid any semi-active missile attack.
The strategy is firing at equal altitude of your opponent. And immediately dive.

Personally, I'm using the R27 R more like a decoy. Firing them with the "launch autorisation override" at max or over max range. Most of the time, your opponent will overreact. And immediately dive, drop flairs or make turns.
But most importantly, he will not immediately fire back/lose his radar lock.
My R27 R will most certainly miss. I don't care, the objective, was to close the distance to fire my R27 T at effective range.
It works quite well vs AI opponents anyway...
