Unfortunately there are no interactive missions available for the A-10A.
The easiest way to set up a free flight is to use the mission editor. It is really simple:
Select "Mission Editor".
Select the airplane icon in the left, and find the A-10A. Place it somewhere on the map.
Set "skill level" on the right to "player".
In the bottom right, you can also select waypoint to "takeoff from ramp" or "takeoff from runway" depending on your preference. You can also use a normal waypoint to have the plane start in the air.
Also the A-10A flight manual has full explanations on the cockpit instruments and their use as well as a flight school section to help you learn the aircraft. Further flight analysis of the A-10 is available in the A-10C manual that you can download for free and should be applicable to the A-10A.
To set your heading, add a waypoint to your aircraft in the direction you want to be facing at first.
The mission time is in either the briefing section (left side of the mission editor UI, button has a clipboard icon) or in the weather section (same place, except sun and cloud icon).
