Rudder problem
Hi all!
I have a pretty strange problem with dcs.
Everytime my aircraft is on the ground, even with no input at all, the rudder points to the left. But only the rudder and not the wheel, and since it could be counterd with input from the joystick it didn't really bother me. But after playing with the A10c and f15 for a while I wanted a new challange so i bought the Mi-8 and the Dora. And here the problem is much worse. In the dora the wheel is doing a full left turn and i can really only go in circles, same problem with the Mi-8.

I have checked my settings and there is no conflicting commands so i don't really now what to do.
Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

When you bring up the axis viewer (right side Control key + Enter) does it show the rudder axis as over to the right?

As an experiment to try to help narrow this down, could you recreate your assignments, i.e. shut down DCS, rename the following directory:

C:\Users\(YourWindowsUsername)\Saved Games\DCS

and then start up DCS? A fresh set of control options will be created, and we can see if the problem persists.

No, it's in the center.
I renamed and the problem still remained.
I'm clueless at this moment to be honest.

Just noticed but when starting from the editor the rudder is centered, but when doing missions and campaign it's not. Strange

Thanks for quick reply by the way!

In Dora you should use toe-brakes for steering at low speed. Then lock the tail wheel before trying for takeoff: make sure to go straight a bit before locking.
Rudder is not effective until you have enough speed.
Check DCS options if you have "rudder assistance" enabled under FW-190 specific settings.

In Mi-8 the torque of the rotor must be compensated by applying some left rudder. There's no other way.

Those are just tricky to handle while on ground, that's it.

To clarify: The Rudder axis is on spawn noticeable wrong via. RightControl+Enter (control indicator)?

I have a Saitek Rudder and need to set a small deadzone ore I have a similar problem (although only very slight rudder input)

Yes and no to that question. The Control indicator shows that it's centered. But in the external view you can clearly see the rudder to the side.

I have set a slight deadzone, but I don't think this is the case becuse this is only happening when i'm on the ground. As soon as I take-off the rudder centers again.

Here is a screenshot showing how much the rudder actually is offset. This changes from left to right after i make heavy turns, turning onto the runway for example so i can't use rudder trim.

And this is what the control indicator shows:

Didn't know about the brake turning in the dora, thanks for that!

I know of the torque since I have the huey and blackshark module as well.

But even if the problems in the Dora and the Hip are related to my ♥♥♥♥♥♥ flying, the problems in the f15, a10c and su-27 are not.

And this happens exclusivly on the ground. Never in the air.
Is there something else i'm missing?

The first link is a 404. The second looks normal.
After deleting the SavedGames\DCS folder, the default assignments are automatically created but are not good for almost any joystick.

Which joystick do you have? I did not find that info in this topic.

Introduce some dead zone and curve to all 3 axis and make sure they all assigned properly.
Do not use any joystick external software, only the drivers.

OP: Provide a track please and the mission you are trying this on.

Sorry, my misstake.

Here's a new link with both screenshots + the track file https://www.dropbox.com/sh/fmnwdju0chh8rm4/AAB6vRVVaWwj9Si0sZgkFZNYa?dl=0

I have the Saitek X52 pro.
I already have a dead zone of 5 % on all three axis, and a curavature of 25.

What do you mean by external software? I only have the drivers provided by saitek.

Same link I sent to =Air FoRCe= https://www.dropbox.com/sh/fmnwdju0chh8rm4/AAB6vRVVaWwj9Si0sZgkFZNYa?dl=0

The mission on the trackfile is Operation Clean Sweep, but the problem is there on all the missions, including the campaign. But it's NOT present when starting from the mission editor

Sorry I can't really see what you mean, on the ground you look like you are perfectly taxiing without any inputs. Do you mean per chance only the animation of the rudder in the external view? This would be caused by wind, which you can turn off in the editor. Maybe try this with the missions you are having trouble with.

Wow, i've never felt this retarded in my entire life. 8 years in fsx couldn't prepare me for dcs.
The attention to detail is just mind blowing.

Thanks for your help Apo, and I apoligize for taking up your time with my ignorance.

He is right about the wind.
I tested with some wind and yes, the rudder is moved by it to the side.
Good stuff.
[GCA] King Apo Nov 13, 2014 @ 3:38pm
To be honest my first thought was: "This guy probably just doesn't know how detailed DCS is modeled" but the Track blew me totally off. I knew that in DCS when the wind is set too strong your plane may actually move on the ground, but that this was animated on rudders or other surfaces was totally new to me. :)

But after I looked into the editor and set the wind to zero the external view rudder input disappeared. You learn every day something new with DCS! =)

Welcome to the club Ricky.

Welcome to the club Ricky.

This is one hell of a simulator! Every little bit of detail just makes me drop my jaw.
After nearly 100 hours in this thing and I still have the feeling that there is so much more to learn, I love it!
I still remeber playing Lock On when I was a kid, Dcs has gone a long way since then!
It didn't even cross my mind that it could be the wind since i'm used to flying the crj 700 and boeing 737 where wind really doesn't do anything to the airplane while on the ground.

Thanks guys!

This problem was bugging me as well. but found the solution.
As someone pointed out in this topic: http://steamcommunity.com/app/223750/discussions/0/46476144983467996/
This is the CAS. Control Authority System
Try using CTRL+1,2,3 where 3 is for Yaw, rudder.
Cheers
