Su-25T has 2 jammers: ECM radar jamming (which you need wing pods for) and a built-in IR (infra-red, heatseaking missile) jammer in the tail. This is the one that lights up K/C thing.
It also tends to annoy a lot of people on your team for the same and other reasons.
In fact some server admins will kick you if you turn them on when you take off and leave them on the entire time you are flying.
They also have no indicator, which should be on the right console. (It should look like this: http://sparfell.2.free.fr/su-25-roberto/ecmlight.jpg , but in the next update for DCS world 2 or which ever update is relevant , ED said they are planning to fix a bunch of things for DCS world 2.0)
SHIFT+E turns on the infared scrambler, that works on infared missiles (heat seeking) such as form avengers, manpads, and strellas, you really detect them on the SPO-15 , only way you know is by seeing them launch.
ECM work on radar missiles ,
Wrong answers.
ECM Pods DO WORK, in fact I only take a single pod and an extra R-60M on the other pylon, one pod works even.
Only the indication for ECM has not yet made it into the public release, nothing to do with DCS 2.0, but the private build has it already working and the next patch will have, as well as Su-33 lights and fuel gauge. These have only somewhat recently received new 6DOF pits.
ECM, on all aircraft that have it, have multiple applications.
Examples include but not limited to:
Against SAMs, they allow to get closer before being locked or launched on.
Since 1.2.7 the SAMs have DLZ (Dynamic Launch Zone) and ECM, as well as passive counter-measures like flares, do affect their behavior.
Active missiles are forced to do pure pursuit instead of lead pursuit upon a jamming target, no matter the range, which makes them travel a longer trajectory. You can also break the bandits STT or even TWS lock if timed the ECM activation after the lock but before burn through.
ECM can also be counter-productive and attract a semi-active missile w HOJ even without the host lock, that includes the radar SAMs.
Jamming low can drastically decrease the burn through range.
Jamming while notching is bad, as it defeats the purpose of a notch and acts like a magnet.
ECM also affects a radar AAA's accuracy, like Shilkas, Vulcans, Gepards.
ECM is far from being useless. Some indications missing doesn't make it less effective.
The new 1.2.11 beta patch fixed the ECM light on Su-33 but not on Su-25T.
The new Su-27 PFM and HUD/MFD is in. Just tried the Cobra and failed.
The patch is a beta for about a week.
Well if you say it work, then guess you are right.
I thought ED announced that patch 1.2.11 would update several moduels to prepare for 2.0 . And plans for SU-25T bug fixes along with a possible clickable interior were in 2.0
The "Frogfoot" Tankovy in DCS is an imagination of ED of what "it should have been".
Example would be the RWR SPO-15 Beryoza that is absent in the real thing, but added by ED.
There's about a dozen of Ts ever made and only a handful is in service.
The Su-25SM has replaced/upgraded the Grach instead, in numbers.
So, creating or further developing the Su-25T is not going to happen.
It's a freebie, and is a great aircraft and the only one that can destroy absolutely everything in DCS. I fly it since day one of FC1 back in 2005.
None of the FC3 aircraft are getting ASM, however, but PFM and external model as well as a new damage model is worked on but not for the release of DCS 2.0.
My bet is that the MiG-29A/G/S will remain old even with the release of 2.0
It's 6DOF pit and external model are being worked on, but the PFM is not even close.
The Su-33 and Su-25T were only recently updated with 6DOF.
Su-33 ECM and Afterburners fixed, the fuel gauge still seems offset.
Su-25T ECM is not yet fixed it looks like and the IRCM light also.
Again, do not expect ASM for any FC3 aircraft, but only 6DOF, external model/damage and PFM. But otherwise they will remain SSM.
