Is it possible to adjust Joystick input?
new edit...

Is it possible to adjust the joystick inputs? As mentioned below I noticed that the F-86 Sabre plane has a negative pitch in game mode. I have to pull back slightly on the stick to keep the plane level. It appears as if the center calibration for the joystick has a slight x-axis forward input, so when I go in game the pitch is slightly negative.

I also noticed the the F-15C in the instant action mode rolls right. It appears as if the center calibration for the joystick has a slight x-axis right input, so when I go in game the roll is slightly to the right.

I am using an X52 Pro flight system joystick. Looking at the joystick control panel it appears the stick is centered. Is there any way I can adjust the joystick inputs to remove the problems mentioned above? Can I edit the input in DCS or in the control panel to adjust the joystick center? I hope this makes sense since I am new to DCS and flying sims.

I found how to assign axis and adjust the deadzone and curvature. I reassigned axis several times and no change with this problem.

old, original message
I am a new player to DCS. I picked up Flaming Cliffs 3 and the F-86 Sabre plane.

Is there a manual for the F-86 plane? When I click on manual here it only shows me the DCS and SU-25 plane manual.

Also, I noticed the F-86 in game mode is very nose heavy. I have to constantly pull back on the stick, regardless of throttle setting, to keep the plane in level flight. I used the joystick setup routine in the community guide settings and it did appear to have any affect on the this problem. Does the F-86 manual have a better, detailed guide on how to setup a joytick for this plane?

thanks in advance.

edit...I do see a "DCS World controller walkthrough" and "DCS Manual" file so I will give these docs a look and see if it helps.

There's DCS F-86F QuickStart EN.pdf in:
..\SteamApps\common\DCSWorld\Mods\aircraft\F-86\Doc\

You can get the same manual from DLC page "view manual" link also.

It's waiting for a complete flight manual still.

Edit: seems like Steam has broken system for manuals now.
Here's direct link: http://store.steampowered.com/manual/306240

I was wondering why these manuals weren't available on the DCS main site?

I often would like to browse them on computers that do not have DCS World, or cannot install it, so the only option is to go through Steam links.

Do you not have this issue in other games?

My first thought was to modify the deadzone and curvature.
However, you said you did that.

I recently set up my cheap joystick and some things I did while messing with that was setting the deadzone to maximum and really large curves just to test the sensitivity of the axis tuner.

I once changed the axis for a 'virtual' joystick driver on accident, are you sure you didn't accidentally choose a different device?
Sometimes my XBOX 360 controller pops up as well.

Maybe you are adjusting the wrong axis?

I am a novice, this is all I could come up with.

I only have DCS flight game. Yes, I will have to try another flightsim.

I do not think the curvature and deadzone settings will do anything to adjusting the joystick center position in the game, but I will give it a try this weekend.
: )

No errors made in setting axis or axis input for X52 column. Could other devices cause the problem? Their is also a column for my Fanatec sim racing pedals. I could try and delete that column or unplug my pedals next time I start the game.
: )

Some devices/drivers may behave oddly.
For example, my current rudder pedals need the toe-brake axis inverted on both left and right.
Some other pedals might not need that.
That is why it is possible in settings where axis tuning is made..

Also if you have wheel connected it might be a good idea to remove bindings from that: sometimes it may confuse DCS as it can't tell which input is the correct if there's duplicate binding.

Are you trimming?

Just so you know.... F-15C Instant Action: I also see this. The plane slowly rolls right without any input from yourself. I have to admit that I always thought it was because of wind. Since I didn't think it was a problem I never looked further into it. Have you tried opening another mission to see if it carries over? BTW, you can see where the sim thinks your stick is at by hitting r-ctrl-entr. I would think that as long as your stick shows centered there things are working as they should.

No no trim set. I haven't read the manual. I just fired up instant action to make sure things were installed correctly. I do have 360 controller hooked up, but I do have the axis cleared from that controller.

I did see constant slow roll right, but like I said I was just testing things out so I didn't give it much thought.

I'm currently having a blast flying around in the uh-1. I haven't read the manual for that one either, but just flying around sight seeing and trying to land at different places is a lot of fun. :-)

It's called Dead Zone and Curve.
Set them to 5-10 and 20-30 respectively.
Flying with 0 0 is asking for issues and instability.
This is described both in the DCS World and MiG-21Bis manual, and possibly others.

I have both a 5 deadzone and 20 curve set already. :-)

I've taken that out of the ah-1 since I seem to fly better without it set that way.

thanks for all the suggestions and comments. I've finally returned from holiday and hope to play around with the DCS world game this weekend.
Chameleon_Silk Nov 15, 2014 @ 10:23am
look up how to trim your plane when you do.
dryerflyer Nov 15, 2014 @ 10:32am
Isn't 'holiday' that thing you do that lets you play more DCS?
