F-86 Sabre, Should I Buy?

Hey guys, I was hoping someone with the F-86 add-on could tell me a little bit more about what I should expect if I purchase this add-on. I have searched google for the last hour looking for one bit of information, and I can't seem to find an answer to my particular question.

I love the F-86 sabre, and I can see they have added in a ton of depth and detail, so I'm all set there, and I am tempted to buy it just on that principle alone.

However, my question is this: I love the random mission generator when I fly the A-10C. Everything seems to fit. The aircraft generated are all fair match-ups, as everything is within a modern timeline.

Is it possible to generate random missions with the F-86? If I do generate a random mission with the Sabre, will I find myself in late 50's tech matched up against SU-35's that can blow me out of the sky before I can even see them, or will I actually be matched against similiar enemy tech? (I know the MiG 21 has been added recently, so that's promising)

I don't know if I could fully enjoy the F-86 if all I can play is canned missions. I'm not into multiplayer as much, so if all I can expect is taking on late 80's to early 2000 tech in something greatly out matched, then I may not actually want to buy.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can give me some insight into this. Google didn't provide me that particular bit of information, but with a current 70% off sale, I almost HAVE to buy it, but the lack of random generated missions with even tech levels could be the deal breaker for me.

The mission generator functionality is part of DCS, not just a single module.
So it doesn't always know which are same era and would be a good match.

The Mig-15bis module is estimated to be released in december with same level of depth and detail so at that point there should be proper match of the two. Currently the damage model in AI Mig-15 is not at that level yet but should be once the module is done.

Maybe the mission generator can be improved, other choices are downloading some missions made by other people or start using the mission editor which is pretty good and easy to learn.

Hmm, I was afraid of that. I don't really want to design my own missions because to me, that would defeat the purpose, as I would know exactly what would happen and when, and eventually the same thing would happen with the community built missions, (not to say that they wouldn't be of great quality, I have seen some excellent missions made by the community)

That's really a shame. I wonder if they could incorporate something where if you click on a module at the bottom where it show's your purchased DLC if it could then apply settings to the mission generator.

For example if you don't click on anything, you get missions tailored for all of DCS World, which would incorporate all current aircraft and tech levels, but then if you click on The P-51 you'd get missions with like-enemy tech appropriate for the era that aircraft was active, ect ect.

I have a long time with the sale to think about purchasing the F-86. The Sabre has always been one of my absolute favorite military planes, and it looks as though they did a marvelous job here, I just wish the random mission generator had more specific tech settings.

The Sabre does come with a series of single missions, and are very good. If you like the F-86 then there's a lot to learn. I'm not sure if a campaign is being delivered for this module, but I do believe it was in the works..

That's some hopeful news. I'm looking for ways to see if I can edit what the A-10's fast mission generates, to see if I can replace enemy flight groups with more of a similiar tech level to the F-86, but again I run into the same problem of knowing where the enemy will likely be.

Thanks for this news, Fearlessfrog. Hopefully in the future an option to specify tech level can be added to the Fast Mission Generator, and hopefully the F-86 will be on such a great sale again (I'd gladly pay full price for it, if my budget would allow)

Must be a typical penny pinching German tourist like we get out here in San Francisco. Unreal. They never just enjoy... penny pinching mind all the way as the main game these Germans in travel ..(I know well, Wife is one...she not ...all the rest)

Sweetest, simple Jet rig around.

Just OWNING this Jet and learning all the details is MY GAME in itself...not caring about bot or MP opposition at this point. One cannot rush these artists at work! AND this is Hard coding work and study ...so much so ..poor guys cannot even enjoy the games they make ..knowing as creators it is ALL code and that is all they see prob. Must be tough to create...Love um all for giving up Gaming for us Slobs who just use their fine work! (Talked to a Game Maker once about it ..PC gaming..he never games!)

It will take ME a LONG time to get functional enough to be realistic. I plan to join MP as an easy target for any expert as I have zero ego on such.

Looking forward to the full manual and the Mig 15 fully mocked up. THEN one day a North Korean Map to fight in!!!!

I'm extremely tempted to buy it, it's on an amazing sale, and I love the Sabre, always have, always will, but I don't know if I could enjoy being shot down by SU-27's miles away because I don't play multiplayer and I'm out of canned missions...

Ok...first, and this is a bit off topic, but why the German hatred? Chill a bit on that.

I will likely buy the add-on if they start to include a suitable time frame for the jet to fly in and like-teched opposition. I also really like Ferrari's and such, but I won't buy just a tire because it happens to be for a Ferrari. I'd rather buy the finished car.

Enjoy it! It is fun to fly, for example, take a low-altitude route through some canyon :)

I kept watching the Sabre in coop mp mission (no-dogfight server as I see no point going to dogfighting those fc3 hotshots, while flying myself vintage modules only) for about one whole hour and it was really a joy.
What I like the most are the wheels and the nose section, along with engine sounds and lot's of smoke comming out on military power! I flew along in rather heavily loaded Mig21 at 90% throttle & 4km altitude, and Sabre could easily keep up with me, so I found myself watching her dive and attack soft ground targets with MGs. If it wasn't for Mig15bis coming, I would get her right away based solely what I've seen so far. If you are a fan of early jets, just get it!

Man this cap thing is so wild our City Supervisors are changing ALL our STREET SIGNS in San Francisco from an easy to see in long distance, FULL CAPS for 170 yrs to first letter cap and rest lower case to make CAP HATERS HAPPY!

The youth think the SIGN is SHOUTING AT THEM and it upsets um. Now it is hard to quickly see streets in driving! OMG silly stuff about the DANGER OF CAPS!
