Help with mouse key binding.
My pedals broke few months ago, I had buttons 4 and 5 of my joystick set to countermeasures, but I had to reassign them as left and right rudder respectively. The problem is that now I don't have a comfort key to choose rather than the mouse buttons. But the config options won't let me to set them. I wanna left button to drop chaff and right to drop flares, that's all.
Is there any way to make this? I tried to look on the forums and there were .lua scrips but I know nothing about lua scripting. By the way I only have Flaming Cliffs 3.

You could use one of joystick buttons as modifier instead. This way you can use multiple functions on same buttons depending on if the modifier is pressed or not.

Think of this as similar to the way Ctrl, Alt and Shift work on keyboards as modifiers.

Yes but it will still be uncomfortable for me, if I want to drop countermeasures I have to release the hand from the mouse (which I use for looking since I don't have trackIR). Right now I'm trying a software to map custom keys to mouse buttons, but blocks mouse imput, ie, I have left button set to insert key to drop chaff, but I cannot click menu options in flight.

Mouse button functionality might be hard-coded for clicking cockpit things and so on.

If you still want to try that, make sure you remove mouse button bindings in DCS options -> controls first.

I tried disabling them, but they were still restricted to a few options in general controls, there was some key to enable/disable mouse clicking but I couldn't find it, since I use FC3 only removing the clickable cockpit option won't be such a problem for me.

I think you should rethink the placement of your countermeasures regardless as you want them at your fingertips since its a time sensitive thing to release them.

surely you can take some other thing you have bound and add a modifier + button to use that so you can have them at finger tips? if you are binding trim to the joystick add a modifier + HAT to trim the plane.

I need to experiment with modifiers, sure, seems like a cool idea.
