Think of this as similar to the way Ctrl, Alt and Shift work on keyboards as modifiers.
Yes but it will still be uncomfortable for me, if I want to drop countermeasures I have to release the hand from the mouse (which I use for looking since I don't have trackIR). Right now I'm trying a software to map custom keys to mouse buttons, but blocks mouse imput, ie, I have left button set to insert key to drop chaff, but I cannot click menu options in flight.
If you still want to try that, make sure you remove mouse button bindings in DCS options -> controls first.
surely you can take some other thing you have bound and add a modifier + button to use that so you can have them at finger tips? if you are binding trim to the joystick add a modifier + HAT to trim the plane.
