Thrustmaster T.A.R.G.E.T, or not
I see a lot of people saying they never use TARGET at all, and a lot of people saying you need to use it to get the best out of your warthog.

So, are you using it or not, and in that case, why?

I did notice that DCS automatically sets up the warthog, and that doesn't seem to work when using TARGET - at least for me all keybindings where cleared, or incorrect. How would one go about setting it up in conjunction with TARGET? I'm thinking since they do some magic with the switches on the throttle, like sending extra keystrokes when going back from having it up instead of middle etc.

Also - if anyone could direct me to a good resource on how to set up my other planes for the warthog joystick I'd be delighted! For example, what functions do you have mapped to joystick and throttle for the F15, SU-27 etc etc. I know nothing of these planes and how the setup looks with their real joysticks, so I really don't know what I need fast and easy access to.

Thanks!

No need to use it, just bind settings in DCS. Much simpler.

Only A-10C has default bindings that are really meant for Warthog, all other modules in all other joystick need more or less editing.

TARGET is mostly useful for custom macro things but DCS supports modifier keys so there's not much point.

Most bindings should be made according to what you need: start with what is immediately useful and change things later when you find to do so. When more accustomed to aircraft you may have different ideas of what you want, there's no perfect solution for everyone.

I find programming software only steps in when you need to do something that a game doesn't support, or to take a slider and turn it into buttons etc.

TLDR: what kazereal said.

I agree with the above. I don't use TARGET for my TM Warthog. Just another program running in the background that isn't really needed.

I hear ya, thanks guys!

When it comes to bindings, I was thinking that sure, the joysticks differ but maybe you can simulate as much as possible from the other planes. I'll try to find information about how the other planes work and how their joysticks / throttles are setup, thanks!

I can't wait until hegykc can start to deliver on the replika joysticks he is building :)
