There's a campaign for each aircraft included in the game, as well as some SP missions. You can also download user-created files here: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/
(Skins, missions, campaigns, mods, etc...), so you don't need to always play MP.
About money, you can try the free Su-25T and the TF-51 (unarmed training version of the P-51 Mustang) and get your opinion whether it's worth getting more (and different) aircrafts or not.
You don't need money if you don't want to buy any other aircraft. It's really up to you.
