DCS World Steam Edition

DCS World Steam Edition

I have a peculiar problem with sound in DCS
I have a laptop but its a nice mid/high specs and it runs DCS wonderfully.
my problem is that when i start flying after 5 minutes the sound that came from the TV switches back to the laptop. Only way to fix it is restarting DCS. This happens only in Dcs. does any one else has this type of issue?

Never experienced that -- I assume it's a HDMI connection? In the main menu in sound settings, do you have "auto" or did you manually choose the sound device? I would go for a manual choice and try with that.

I would suggest contacting support directly with your dcs log from a session where it happens and your dxdiag, they will look for clues.

Thank you

the dcs log should be in saved games dcs log folder, a single file called dcs.
for the dxdiag open windows run and type dxdiag and hit return, save the information that generates to the desktop and you should have a file to send then.

One other thing to think of. About the only game I play on my TV through HDMI is WoW. I have noticed odd things with sound there as well. When I plug into the TV, a NEW sound device comes up in Windows, the TV (SAMSUNG). And the game itself will play through the TV, as I have the game set at "Samsung" sound device, but often sounds weird or switches to Realtek sound out of PC speakers.

The fix for me in those situation is to also select the TV as the default sound setting in Windows as well as the game.

So the basic question is, are you changing the sound device in Windows / PC to the TV as default (if the TV shows up as on option in Windows sound settings when you plug the HDMI in).

Guess what I'm saying is, DCS might be iniitially seeing the TV speakers, but windows might be set still on the realtek speakers, and at some point it glitches and the sound goes over to the PC settings, which might still be on Realtek.

So maybe try ensuring that both in game and Windows are set to the TV speakers (again, if the TV speakers show up as a speaker option in windows when you plug in HDMI. This would also probably mean that you could set DCS at "Default", which would then read off the PC, which you have set default as the TV.
